Default Subwoofer blown? How can I tell?

On my JL Audio 12W3v2 sub, it seems that I'm hearing a slight buzz when I go beyond moderate volumes on certain songs with bass. Yet I can make it louder and as the buzz increases, so does the bass.

Next I try another song that has very deep bass and turn it up loud enough that the woofer is excursing a lot, the bass is loud, but I do not hear the buzz in the woofer. Any suggestions? Thanks

could be that the hatch or other peices are just rattling from the certain frequencies of the higher bass. The last time i blew my sub it was a distinct sound that you would know even if you've never blown a sub.

But it seems like the sound is coming from the speaker. I'll check the screws.

I just hope it's not blown (though it still makes good sound).

try pulling the box out of the vehicle and listen to it again using the music that was causing the noise. That will eliminate the vehicle.

Honestly, try smelling the sub. Every sub I've ever blown smelt like **** afterwards.
