Default HID install problem PLEASE HELP

Hey I got the HIDS today and tried installing them. I followed the directions, took out the original headlight, mounted the box in the engine bay and plugged the box into the input connector from the fuse box then the Ballast to the box output cable and turned on the headlamps and they did not turn on at all. I then plugged the original stock headlight back in and it drew full power. I then switched the high beam light out and plugged the HID to the high beam output source and the light flickered but never turned on. Do you have any ideas what is wrong. I had a friend who is very good with electronics and who installed HIDS on his F150 help me out and we can not figure it out. Could I have been sent the high beams instead of the low beams? The lights are HID Xenon System 8000K with the 9006 bulbs.

Is there a rule against this?

I don't think so although some mods frown upon it.

I was just trying to tie all his identically-titled threads together so they are easier to navigate.

I had my other roommate who is an EE take a look at the Lights and he said that i may need a bigger fuse coming from the factory headlamp connector. Also I looked at my fuse box and my car does not have fuses in the RH HDLP DR and LH HDLP DR slots. Is this only for TA with the pop up leadlamps.

I took pics of the wires and connectors how i have been putting them in the car. The only way that i have even gotten a flicker is by turning the first connector a half turn from where they are supposed to be (180*), prohibiting the two from clipping together. The light would not stay on however.

Here are the pics on how I have connected the lights so far.
Connection from factory power to ballast:

The connector itself:

The ballast and ignitor unit:

Connection from ballast to the bulb:

The 9006 bulb itself: (was in place during installation)

I am stuck and frustrated beyond belief. Who ever would have thought that several well educated people could spend so long (hours) on a simple plug and play kit.

Thanks in advance for any insights, or recommendations.

I put the same exact setup in my 06 Sierra and the only thing I had to do was up the amperage on the two fuses you mentioned (the ones you said your car didn't have plugged in). I'm going to check and make sure htey're the exact locations you mentioned, but they sound correct. My factory amp. was 10A and I put 20A in and they work w/o a flaw. I drove with them on for 6 hrs straight and they worked perfectly. I would think that your car would be relatively the same as my truck. I've got an 00 SS @ home, and I'll look and see if mine has those fuses or not. I'll also try using my HID kit in it as well and see if I have any problems. I hope this helps.

I don't see how swapping wires could help. The light bulb is a strictly resistive load with no polarity - although the ballasts might have polarity in terms of getting tripped [on].

I think the bigger problem might be not enough start up current. Although if that were the case, you'd likely be blowing fuses - unless the draw is so fast that the fuse doesn't have time to blow.

If/when I do a setup like this, I'll probably just run the hot for the ballasts through a standard 30amp bosch (or similar) relay. That should provide more than enough startup current (360 watts).

Once the bulbs ignite though, I think they only draw a combined 70 watts vs 110 for the stock bulbs.

EDIT: Also, it is possible the ballast and/or bulbs are defective....

Cool

Plug from the car to the ballast needs to be flipped around. Problem solved.
