Default SIRIUS and XM users!.... I need a lil help!

Anyone in here ever personally install a Sirius or XM system?

. .... Manual said plug and play and it was.. ........ Only issue is that I can't get it to work. The account has been activated,... Theres power to the reciever,....Antenna is plugged in and in place on one of the hydrolic arms for the rear hatch,...Its just not brodcasting the sat radio. I found a channel that no ones brodcasting anything on so that shouldn't be an issue and the reciever is tunned to the same channel as the radio..... I just can't get the som bitch to work!

1.) Anyone else use 89.1 to brodcast the signal?
2.) Is the antenna a POS?....Is there an aftermarket antena that I can buy that would work better?
3.) .. how do I fix this ****?!!!

P.S. ...Its a SIRIUS One

Can you link me to the tuner you have?

My old tuner had a menu where you could turn it on...

Did you go through all the start up procedures where it tunes itself to channel 184 and then you subscribe? This would verify that you are getting a satellite signal. Sorry if you did do this, just trying to eliminate things.

There are two things you have to do to get the wireless FM modulator working. You have to select a frequency (and set the same frequency on the radio) but you also have to turn the transmitter on. That's done via a menu on the Sirius tuner - usually another option on the same menu where you set the frequency. Also, make sure you don't have anything plugged into the FM direct or audio ports on the tuner because that bypasses the wireless FM.

I assume that you aren't seeing a message on the display that says "antenna not found" or "searching for signal". That would indicate an antenna problem. You can also plug headphones into the audio port to check that it's working properly.

BTW, how could you have gone through the entire activation process without this working? The first thing they ask you is "are you tuned to channel 184 and can you hear music through your radio"?

....The guy I had on the phone with me from SIRIUS couldn't figure it out either so he told me just to call back if I had any issues still. Did,....then got put on hold for well over half an hour. Thats when I decided to ask someone on here.

Oh and theres no messages indicating an antenna problem.

Weird huh?!

It almost sounds like the activation wasn't successful. If you tune to channel 184 now, do you get any sound? If channel 184 works but none of the others do then either the activation didn't work or the tuner is defective.

Well when it was activated the tech on the phone fucked around with it cuz I couldn't hear anything on 184 so he opened it up so I can bounce around the channels. I just cant hear anything. Both the reciever and the stereo are set to the same channel but all I hear is static from the non brodcasting frequiency! (I can't spell worth a damn!...sorry)

A couple of things you can try...

Plug a headset from an MP3 player (one that uses the mini-stereo plug) into the audio jack on the Sirius tuner and see if you can hear anything.

Plug the Sirius tuner into another car and see if you get anything through the radio.

These tests will tell you if the problem is with the tuner, the wireless FM transmitter, or possibly your car setup. I suspect you just happened to get a defective tuner.

Mine wasn't working at first either and it was because I didn't have the FM transmitter on. I had the freq selected but didn't have it enabled.

Oh and the wireless FM transmitter sucks. You will want to get the adapter that plugs it directly into your ant. I went a bought a new stock radio with the mp3 jack on the front to plug it directly in. I couldn't stand changing the damn channel all the time.

What was it? The transmitter wasn't on? Then what did you buy for $30?

You can adjust the audio output level of the tuner on one of its menus.

Yeah, did your unit not have an internal FM trans on it? That would be new to me. Or was it not working so you bought an external one?

It had a wireless FM Transmitter so I went out and bought one for 30 bucks from BestBuy!

I'll check on that volume thing tho. THATS driving me nuts!
