Default Antena Question (fixed to power)

Just wondering...
I have a fixed antena. Is the wiring there to swap in a power antena? What is involved/needed 4 the swap?

I'm sure this has been covered but the search isn't working 4 me.

Thanks

For a camaro, the wiring is not there. You are going to have to run a remote on wire, can do that from the headunit by adding the wire to the harness. Splice into the power wire from the monsoon amp and ground it somewhere in the back. It is not to difficult, as I have done this.

Thanks 4 the response.

But, Bummer, not what I was hoping 2 hear. The only reason I want it is because when I back into my 2nd garage, I back the rear under a loft. I have 2 pull the antena off, It woulld b easier to have a power antena, but taking it off is only a minor inconvenience.

Adding the wire is a pretty minor inconvenience as well.

Thanks 4 the info guys.

I'll probly do this a little later... My headers have been in boxes 4 a year... I have more ideas than time. I was hoping that since I have the Monsoon, it would already have the wires.

That said, it seems pretty easy to wire it up.

The wiring is the easy part. Gettting the antenna to mount is the difficult part. The firebird antenna does not mount to the same point as the Camaro antenna. You need to drill a new hole and that metal is thick. I did this myself last year. I love the way it turned out but it was not as easy as I expected.

Really? I was already 2nd guessing this due to the hole I have 2 drill in the bottom 4 the vent.

U have 2 drill an additional hole in the quarter panel (or just enlarge the existing one)?
