Default HU Newb and PAC SWIX ?

I'm looking at purchasing this HU in the next few days. Found a kick *** price! If anyone has experience, let me know.

But what does "Steering Wheel Remote Ready" mean? Will I still need the universal PAC SWIX? Or do the steering wheel controls jack right in?

Also, what kind of labor costs am I looking at having it installed, with the microphone and DVD functions?

Thanks for the help guys, just trying to get the shopping list together.

Sony Head Units suck. I went through 2 because I thought Sony was the best at one time. I buy nothing but Alpine or Pioneer nowaday's

JVC is fine. I won't buy Alpine because they make you buy overpriced accessories to do anything. Next models will need an extra accessory that costs $50 to change the damn volume.

I bought an Alpine from crutchfield and it came with a free ipod adapter. I was really happy with crutchfields service and it came with the wiring harness and head unit mount for free. I love my alpine and the ipod adapter is awesome. check it out.

Crutchfield does include "free" adapters on some models but thenyou pay alot more for the unit with them at times. Most of there products are way overpriced compared to some of the other online stores.

I had a Sony HU that lasted forever. It was in two different cars and full blast all the time.

$400-$500 is way too much for any kind of HU. Make sure you dont get your **** broken into, I would be so pissed if I spent that much on just a HU, not to mention everything else powered by it, to have it stolen.

I'm a pioneer guy myself. Mine is an old one though, and rather worn looking, but it sounds better than the stock HU does (and doesn't have the wacky volume **** where it seems like all or nothing sound, wth is up with that..)

Eventually I may get a nicer HU but for now I'll keep my old one. It works and nobody wants to steal it anyway since it looks a little beat now lol
