It probably wouldnt be too hard to put some sort of cover on it, or even better cut off the bottom of a large duffle bag and it could easily slip over it.

Alpine type x - 1243d on the way...the sub weighs 49 lbs, will this type of box be strong enough to hold that weight?
Also, how do you mount the sub box in the well? What is holding it in place.
