Default Air conditioning help

My car did do not have a condensor when i bought it. (Suprise to me of course).

So i replaced that and now want to get it charged up.

I just tested it (empty) and it seems like the motor does not turn it when i put the AC on. Is this because the system it empty? Or is there something else wrong?

Thanks again.

do u mean the compressor does not come on? it should not come on if there is no pressure. fill it and go from there.

Correct. That is what i meant. Just was not sure if i should bother getting it filled if it was not coming on.

So..there is some sort of mechanisim in there that does not turn it off if its empty.

How many cans or how much pressure do i put in.

(Its actully someone else doing it for me....but he said i need to find out how much i need.)

the system runs on pressure, if it sences(sp) none then it won't turn on. it will probly take 2.5-3.0 cans. is the person who is doing it have a set of gauges or are they using a home kit?

They do there own stuff on the farm all the time. Just hope he has the right connector for the car.

i would evacuate the system first, put a new receiver dryer on just as precaution then charge it up and somewhere it should say how many POUNDS the system holds

The A/C compressor clutch will only operate if the refigerant pressure is between 50psi and 100psi.

You risk damaging your compressor, I would get a new orifice tube and flush the system and evacuate it first before you fill it with refrigerant.

Filled it today. One can of Sealant, and one can of coolant. Works great so far.

Guess if it works for a few days is the real test heh?

Yeah it will be, if it does take a puke on you make sure you replace the evap canister and orifice tube and do a VERY good flush and evacuation with a vacuum pump.
