Remote Start in an M6?
The gist is that there are some remote start systems that force you to go through certain steps:
With car running and in neutral, let go of clutch pedal, push remote start button, remove keys from ignition (car will still be running), exit car, close drivers door, arm alarm. Car will turn itself off and be in ready mode. When returning to vehicle, push remote start button and car starts. Disarm alarm and enter.
This is the "safe" way of installing a remote start. The "unsafe" way is to use a traditional remote start system and either ground or short your neutral safety switch. Using this method you must always keep your car parked in neutral. A friend of mine did this in his car and we woke up to his car parked through the garage door one morning. He forgot to leave it in neutral and he hit the remote start just in time to see his car lurch through the garage door. You can imagine what would have happened if there was a child standing in front of the car.
I would NEVER EVER disingage the neutral safety switch. It is their to save lives and damage to your car. If you really want remote start I would suggest buying one of the specialty starters designed for M6's. You can find them online.
