I had the same question when i looked into them, and i found out that the 35 extra was for the different colored LEDs. Which is pointless to me.
Also when i bought it i returned it three days later because i saw the cop before the Escort picked up on him, so we tryed it with one of my friends who is a cop, and still i saw him before it picked up on him. It also gave many false alarms, very strong Ka but there was nothing around me.

working with radar detectors takes a bit of getting used to. If it doesn't pick him up its useless. But other deterctors in the area and store "automatic" doors can set detectors off. The main time detectors help you is on the freeway when you're cruising in light traffic or in the city when there aren't many cars around and you know the areas of town that have false alarms

Thats a good point, i never thought of that, but hey if i am gonna speed i will face the consequences.

the price difference is for the LEDs thats it. FWIW I love my X50 saved my *** a bunch of times especially now that it is coupled with the Z3 lazer shifter since the cops around here are starting to make the jump from radar to lidar.

I'm convinced those things are programmed to beep randomly or when the voltage goes up. I'd say they are worthless, but if you're set on getting one, go for the cheaper. Spotting cops isn't too hard, and if you're going fast enough to not stop in time, having a detector or not won't help.

I own a blue LED X50 myself, was it worth $35 extra just for blue? not really but I really like blue LED's for some reason.

I don't know how companies in Japan work (but I would venture a guess they are worse than U.S. companies) but here in the U.S.:
ANY time you work as a professional for a company - the VERY 1st thing you do when hired, on your VERY 1st day reporting to work, is to sign a paper stating that ANYTHING you develop while working for the company, and using the companies resources, is solely owned by the company.
So actually he did NOT get screwed - he developed LED's on company time with company resources, so why he would expect to receive any proceeds from that is beyond me. He's lucky they gave him the $180 - as they don't have to give him diddley ****.
Now if it is true that he sued and won that amount, there must have been no such agreement signed - I have found that they are basically ironclad and non-refutable.
Course people sue for dumber **** than that and win - like spilling hot coffee on their laps...

The woman in question was NOT driving (she was in the passenger's seat while her grandson was driving) and the car was not moving (they had pulled into a parking space so she could add cream and sugar). But the real point is that McDonalds was selling their coffee 20 degrees hotter than anyone else (180 degrees vs. 160 degrees) and the spill caused third degree burns requiring plastic surgery. That is not an expected result from spilling coffee and is not a voluntary assumption of risk. Granted, the award was somewhat excessive but that's because juries see deep pockets not because it was a frivolous law suit.

I was at Best Buy and they had both next to each other, i was reading both of their specs and they are the same ****. Nothing on either sheet was different, so from what i observed your paying more for the blue color. I would prefer the red since thats what the lights in my T/A look like.
