Monsoon Head Unit Can't See CD Changer

Monsoon Head Unit Can't See CD Changer
I just added a factory CD changer to my factory Monsoon system (2001 Camaro SS) and the head unit does not recognize that the changer is there.
The changer powers up and cycles through all the discs but I can't get the deck to access it.
I tried disconnecting the battery for an hour to see if the unit might see it when power restored but no dice.
Is my changer bad?
Any suggestions on how to make them talk to each other?
Thanks!

Just to eliminate the obvious - are you pressing the CD/AUX button twice to switch to the changer? (the first press switches to the internal single CD then the second press switches to the changer)
Next thing to check is that the changer cable is securely plugged into the back of the head unit. The power and ground wires in the changer harness run separately from the signal wires so the changer will power up even if the harness isn't plugged into the radio.

Yes, I'm pressing the button.
I even took out the CD from the dash unit so it would be forced to look at the changer.
I'll double check the wires but I think they're tight.
I was thinking there might be a procedure that needs to be followed to make the head unit look for the changer, but I can't find one in my op manual.

The GM9-AUX uses the CD-Changer port and tricks the headunit into thinking the AUX device is the CD-Changer, so this may be related. In the past I've had connection issues with my GM9-AUX adapter when the battery was going and eventually failed and when I had the headunit replaced a few times to due unrelated internal problems (display problems/failures). Also, when first connected, I noticed that it took about 30+ seconds for the sound to start. Sometimes the headunit would give up waiting and display an error and I'd have to try again later. Each time I've disconnected it or the battery was failing/failed it exhibited the same delay each time. Other than that initial delay, its worked fine.
I've done this a few times and it usually works.
Here is my test/fix procedure:
* Turn off the headunit and car
* Completely remove/unplug the heaunit from the car.
* Wait a few minutes.
* Reconnect the headunit minus the GM9-AUX (in your case CD-Changer)
* Test the headunit to make sure it works and that it doesn't see any CD-Changer.
* Turn off the headunit and car
* Reconnect the GM9-AUX (in your case CD-Changer)
* Turn on radio and try the GM9-AUX/CD-Changer
* Wait for it to sync and sound to come through
* If the headunit gives up and displays an error, wait a few minutes and try again.
I've had the failure last a few days and then work perfectly again until the next battery or headunit issue. Each time, there was nothing wrong with the GM9-AUX. The problem was either internal to the headunit (display problems/failures) or the battery was going (its one of the lesser known symptoms).

it will take up to two mniutes sometimes for the cdplayer to recognize and read all the disks in the changer, after that it will begin playing...that could be it, mine took forever the first time i put the disks in

The changer reads all the discs and then loads and spools up disc 1.
I have taken the cover off and watched it operate.
It just never becomes accessible from the head unit.

sorry bro, i took one of mine out and it still booted up after about 30 seconds...you must have purchased either a bad changer or a stock cd player that isnt made to function with the changer

I just had a similar problem, posted today. My used changer was shipped with a disc inside, and with a full cartridge inserted, it jammed up. Head unit did not recognize the changer at all. It seems strange that you have one just tray missing though, if it isn't the one in the player itself.

I'm gonna try the detailed reset procedure above on Friday and see of it'll fly.
If not, I'm going to see about returning it.
Thanks again!
