Default Strange Fuel Guage Question

After my brothers car sat for about a week, the battery was dead. Upon jumping the car the fuel guage went past the full line by a couple inches and is just sitting there. It only has about a half a tank in it so it is reading way off. Anyone had this happen to them?

Same thing happened to me on another Pontiac then my electrical system crapped out while I was driving. The fix is to take the gague cluster off, flip it upside down, and then slowly turn it right-side up until the needles are resting in the correct position.

If that fails, you can remove the cluster, take off the clear shield, and then move the needle by hand.
