ground causing starting problems
The head unit problem is probably just a fuse. There are two separate power connections to the radio - one is ignition controlled power and the other is constant (battery) power. The ignition controlled power is the one that turns the radio on and off and provides power during normal operation. The constant power is what maintains the memory and clock. It also handles things like disc eject and face movement so that they can be done with the ignition off. The ignition controlled power comes from the RADIO fuse and the constant power comes from the PWR ACCY fuse.
Your starting symptoms sound very much like a bad battery. It might be a good idea to get it tested at a local auto parts store - they usually test for free.
