Pioneer deck install
Ive got a pioneer DEH-P7800MP that im looking to install and have a couple quetions.
First off Ive read my factory monsoon speakers are rated at 2ohms and now heres comes the first question, the instructions with the HU say that the speakers connected must be a min rating of 50W and have an impedance of 4-8ohms or else I run the risk of damaging them is this true and if so what speakers would be a good 4-8ohm replacement?
Next I still have to order the rest of the installation parts so I was typing in 40-GM10 for the antenna, 99-3009 dash install kit and 70-1858 for the wire harness are these correct numbers? I came across some brand called metra which has all this and is pretty cheap anyone use this or does it even matter?
Cars a 00 WS6 with factory monsoon system.
Thx

Some of the Monsoon speakers are 2-ohm (only the door mids in a Firebird) and that would be a problem if you were connecting directly to them. As long as you're doing a standard head unit install and leaving the Monsoon amp connected you don't have to worry. The Monsoon amp presents a 4-ohm load to the speaker output of the head unit so you won't have a problem.

I have a Pioneer DEH4900BT running the stock speakers for about a year now with Metra's install parts. No problems what so ever. You should be fine. For best results solder the wires together.

look if i were u i would gut the entire car. get urself a excellent pair of components for the front doors, and jus a decent pair of 6.5 for the back. buy urself a 4 ch amp and tap into the rear connections off the monsoon amp. u will be happy with the sound and eventually u will have to do this if the speakers go out in that car anyways.
if u have ne questions send me a pm.

by connecting a 2-ohm speaker to the Pioneer head unit, you wouldn't be ruining the speakers, you'd end up frying the amplifier portion of the head unit. most aftermarket head units can only handle 4ohm or higher speaker impedance....if you connect anything lower than 4 ohms, it reduces the resistance, which works the amp harder....which equals death to any amp (built into the head unit or not) that is not rated to work with that low of an impedance.
