Help!!!!!Black Box
then you're screwed and will have a hard time EVER getting him to trust you again.
as much as you probably don't want to hear it, you should just drive responsibly for a while and prove to him that you can handle the responsibility....don't jeopardize your driving privilege (and yes, it's a privilege, NOT a right....even for people who own their own cars) and your dad's trust by doing something stupid.
besides, the jammer may not even work in the long run, anyway. i'm not sure of the exact make/model of the device he installed, but some of the ones i've seen have a removable component that can just be plugged into a computer with a USB port, and the data manually downloaded directly to the computer.
Agree 100% here, if I was your dad, figured out you jammed the GPS.... I would say, fine, no car for you...... I would just drive in a consistant and resposible manner and you will regain the trust you lost, or didn't yet have... but remember it only takes one very stupid act to loose the trust all over again
1. If they own the car.
2. If they pay for the car Insurance.
3. If you're living at home.
While your folks are paying the bills it's not worth starting a fight with them about the GPS installed in the car. Drive safely then once you're out from under thier wing so to speak do what you want...

These cars take a good bit of practice to drive and get fully in control of - so speeding is not such a good thing until one has had a good bit of experience with similarly-powered cars.
Dad knows that while F-Bodies are one of the safest cars of their time,,, (scoring nearly as high as possible in crash tests) the high performance helped them to become one of the most deadly cars with regard to fatalities: http://www.informedforlife.org/demos...1999to2002.pdf (See #192 and 197 on the list.) Obviously, the Firebirds are more dangerous because we get more looks from the honeys, compared to the Camaro.
If there is a GPS unti in the car beacuse of you, you should not be driving.
Says the guy with a pic of his speedo near pinned in his sig... lolI have to agree though, my general position is that if you're not old enough to vote, buy a gun, or buy cigarrettes, you're not old enough to drive a high powered car such as an f-body. Honestly I think this GPS idea is great, because it can allow those lucky few whose parents would actually purchase them a nice car, and at that, the car they want, while still maintaining safety.
The very fact that you want to take it out shows that you aren't mature enough on your own to handle the responsibility. Just take it slow, enjoy the car, and for god's sake, don't tell your friends about that tracking piece, just play it off like you're a responsible driver. Plus, you can always enjoy spirited sprints from 0-speed limit.

The device gives off a series of increasingly loud alerts when a driver makes what it perceives to be an error.
Back at home, parents can download the information.
Sounds like a bomb, if you tamper with it i will go off but if it has no power how can it go off (or in this case send the info that it was tampered with)
It's actually kind of a good idea to have that box. I know when I was younger, I put my Jeep in a ditch by f-ing around on the ice and snow. Not that I'm old now at 25, but I think I'm a hell of a lot more responsible than I was at 16. A car like that has the potential to do a lot of damage to you and others if you aren't responsible. Just last week someone I work with lost their son to a car accident because he and his friend (both about 16 or so) were flying down a 30mph road going 70 or 80 to hit some humps in the road and get air. Lost control, hit a tree. The end.

Try the thing out. Go on the freeway and top your car out and go home and if he says anything tell him its broke.
