Sound system almost complete
Just figured i would put up some info on good sound components. I bought a pair of JL audio TR 4ohm 5x7s for the speakers in the trunk, 1 pair of JL TR 6 1/2" for the back seat speakers, 2 JL w3v3 12" in the back, rockford 1100 watt amp for subs. im replacing the door speakers when i have the money and a 6 channel 800 watt amp. all speakers are 4 ohm. it sounds amazing as it sits right now. inside it has clear highs, mids, and subs. can hear it clear as day down the street turned up barely any. the speakers with exception of subs went right into the factory locations w/ factory face plates so you can even tell they are there. i will try and get some pics this weekend

i have a alpine head unit, and the door speakers are still stock for another week. it sounds amazing. the 5x7s all the way in the rear made the biggest difference in quality

Wow, you have your priorities incredibly wrong. Priorities should always be:
-Front speakers
-Amp for front speakers if needed to bypass stock crossover (is needed in our car)
-Subwoofer in the back + amp
-Amp for front speakers if NOT needed to bypass stock crossover
-Any other speakers (optional)

Yes, but I think he could have liked it a lot more if he did it the way I listed. I used to do rear speakers first, 6x9s and whatnot, because that's how my dad always used to do it. In my first car, my front speakers were the last thing I did and I definitely felt dumb for not doing them earlier.

Never owned a JL. I always heard they put out but have more of a thud thud on bass hits instead of detail. Spec's don't look bad:

The TR 5x7 are the coaxs? Hard to believe they don't sound harsh with highs hitting off the hatch in that area:

One of these amps?

And these coaxs in the sails:

Plus an Alpine HU. So about 1G so far?

I think you might be right, but we won't ever find out now. I find that a lot of people end up doing the subs first and then the doors and whatnot because they can't hear them. Then again, some people are perfectly happy just adding subs and rolling with stock speakers. It's a strange world, eh?

Just put two 12" subs in the back and using the Stock Speakers from my 2000 Camaro SS. Hey Hatch, I have a lot of base but hard to hear the lyrics hahaha. I should buy better speakers for the front.

I may do that eventually, too. I was looking at some cdt's from KEE. At this point, anything money I put into the TA is extra, too many other things to pay for, like a new set of heads for the big block

i actually went to the local speaker shop because my amp stopped working, and i was aggrivated about the popping my back seat speakers were making so i inquired about the TR's and i ended up getting a great deal on the 5x7s and 6 1/2"s. tbh it sounds amazing, the highs, mids, and bass sound amazing together. the door speakers, 6 channel amp, alpine steering wheel control unit, and tints are all going in on tuesday
im in RI for college, ct on weekends, and will be in charlotte, NC in 4 weeks. if anyone would like to check it out/hear it let me know =)
honestly it sounds amazing as it is and i really dont think i need the door speakers/amp, but i am just doing it to see how much better it can get =P
the speaker shop wants to pay me to go to sound competitions and they will pay me. and i havent even finished the system yet haha.
and no that isnt my amp, wish i knew about that one, is 300$ cheaper then what i payed lmao. i have roughly 1600$ invested so far and still another 700 or so to go lol. im really beat from work(3rd shift 11pm-7am) and might go to bed, but if i wake up from my shower a bit i will go outside and take some pics and post up in about 20-30 minutes

it took a little modification, when you open it up you will notice a small 6" speaker and a little 1" tweeter. if you use a nice lil dremel tool you can slowly cut from the tweeter to the main speaker and make it about the same size. a 5x7 fits perfect and uses factory screw holes
