I have it and it works beautifully.

It has a magnetic back and it sitting on a horizontal metal section under the front-left of the upper dash pad.

I found a pic:

(That is WhiteBird00's car.)
I mounted the GPS antenna in the raised midde of the oval panel.

BTW, you don't have to completely remove the upper dash pad to get to that area. I just removed the driver-side A-pillar cover (two screws at the top, then pull/pry off), then pulled up the dash pad high enough to reach that panel.

The antenna I have has a magnetic backing so its attached to that metal plate magnetically.

You have the antenna sitting on foam? I heard that the GPS antenna needs to be on a metal sufface. That is why I have mine sitting directly on that metal plate.

Mine is sitting on the guage pod bezel just in front of the clear gauge lens in the lower right corner using velcro. I'll post a picture later.

I put my mic above the mirror. It's quite inconspicuous there and picks up both the driver and passenger nicely. I ran the cable across the top of the dash under the pad (while I had the pad off to mount the antenna), up the A pillar and under the headliner to the mirror. The clip that's included with the mic holds it to the headliner just above the mirror. With the Pioneer I was told that it sounded like I was using the phone handset rather than a handsfree system. The sound quality isn't quite as good with the Kenwood but still quite acceptable.

I have also heard that you get much better satellite reception with the GPS antenna mounted on metal.

Here is a pic. I added it to my first post as well.

Bluetooth Microphone Placement
(Lower right corner in front of gauge lens.)

500 x 375
1280 x 960
2592 x 1944
I wrapped 2 - 3" of the wire behind the microphone with a few layers of electrical tape to protect it from the edges of the gauge bezel.

i like the idea of mounting the mic on the rearview. mine isn't really noticeable between the column and gauge cluster but i can still see it when i look down towards the speedo. i'll have to figure out how to mount it without the holder though

i get great reception on the foam. i've tested it using the tracking everywhere i drive and it hasn't lost signal once!

hey guys, i'm wondering how bad the glare is on the screen during the daytime.

i have a vert and i'm sure it will be even worse. this is the only reason why i'm not rushing into buying one of these DD units.

That's real nice work. Someone ought to make some kits for F bodies. Mine's a 99' Camaro. I could sure use the navigation features a bunch. Then I don't have to take everything down when I park some place.

Thanks. Making the brackets and mounting the headunit is easy. Making the shroud was a bit more work though.

BTW, after a few months and some hot days, the shroud I made started to buckle and the middle and lower horizontal sections bulged out. I added a strip of steel behind each and will see how that does.

Use nero and find the option for creating your own DVD movie. You just add the movie clips you want and then burn away. It's quite painless.
