Default Stealth box and CD changer bolt

I am getting ready to install a stealth box and was wanting to know the best way to cut the bolt from the stock CD changer? Any tricks or tips?

Is it not removable? I don't have one but given if it is fixed I would use a Dremel or Die Grinder with a small cut-off wheel.

I drilled the spot welds on the bracket that the bolt is attached to and it came right off. If you do it with this method be carefull that you don't go all the way through the metal, you just want to get rid of the spot welds.

Try and install your stealthbox before you cut it off though, mine fit but it didn't sit flat.

I've got the JL Vantage Stealthbox and I did NOT want to cut the bracket out in case I ever wanted to go back stock. I ended up marking the spot where the bolt hit the box, drilled a hole in the box to clear the bolt, and then installed the box, siliconed the hole from the inside to ensure an air tight fit, and then installed the sub. Mine's been that way since '00 and it still sounds GREAT!

All I ended up doing was cutting just half the bolt off so the box sat all the way bown. I can still take it out and put the CD changer back in if I need to.
