amp ? hey guys im kinda new to stero systems and i was going to get a new head unit and an amp i was just wonderin could i push like a 400 watt amp safely through the stock speakers? 
Re: amp ? NO..... even with a hp crossover that would be just too much power. I am pushing a set of MB Quart components and some MB's 4x6 coax with a PG Tantrum 300.2 and it is clean, dynamic and plenty lound. What exactly do you want do..? Elaborate more so I can give some options.

Re: amp ? Not to argue with sharkQy but I would highly recommend not doing that! there is no bass in the bose stereo, period. don't try to find it. I amped my rear speakers just because I hadn't gotten the chance to put the new ones in yet.. The only thing I got was louder ****. It destroyed the placement from my fronts (which are upgraded (Qseries mbquart)) I disabled the rear completely the next day. What you hear is what you get, only louder. No bass. Goto walmart and buy an enclosed sub system. I think they are around 50; they are probably what you are looking for.
Re: amp ? You see I don't really know what kind of stock audio system you have. Even if you have the premium audio system, the largest driver is still a 6 1/2 wich is physically not capable of reproducing low frequensies.
By you asking "what if i change my head unit and getting a new amp?" makes me assume your budget is about $300+. That is more than enough to get what are you looking for. Check this out....

I have purchased stuff from these car audio venders and they have excellent service but they are not authorized dealers so you the warranty is from them not the manufacturer.

The guys at sound domain will beat anybodys advertised prices on the internet and they are authorized dealers of everyting they sell so you might to do a price match with these guys.
