Default Noobie needs help...

okay well, had a long road trip last week and i was cranking music as usual and my driver side rear seat speaker blew out...

Okay so first off where can i take it to get it fixed?

And is there something i should look for?

I'm a total noob when it comes to stereo systems.... can i take it to a car toy shop and they replace it or what do i do....

I know this a pretty basic question but i need some help lol

any specific shop/store names would be helpful

Its easy to replace a blown speaker. You can get a stock replacement or upgrade. Take a look in the Sales sections for stock replacements or check out Kee Audio for upgrades. If you upgrade, do it in pairs so that the left/right are matched.

Go up to Best Buy, tell them what car you have, and either replace them all or just the one you need. They can even install it for you. I only suggest this because I don't know any local shops in your area and with you being new to this didn't know if you would want to install it, although very easy.

Very bad idea. Best Buy and Circuit City know nothing about these cars and will try to over sell. They'll try to convince you that you need a whole new system and that every component needs to be bypassed/replaced.

Also, they won't carry the speakers that many on here recommended for these cars.

On top of that, their prices are high compared to ordering it online with shipping included.

In fact upgrading the speakers and headunit are easy.

okay, well i went to bestbuy to hear what they said and they said they could hook me up with a new speaker from aftermarket but they said it would change some stuff ... its a 4 ohms speaker but it think factory is 2 ohms... i don't know im ******* so confused...

anyways, he also told me i would have to change my headunit.... and i don't want to change the headunit because i like the stock one... soo is it possible for me to just get a damn replacement speaker for that one side and just swap it no problem or is there more to it?

i want this done because im pissed not listening to music

Thats why I said to avoid asking Best Buy and Circuit City. Talk to Kee Audio (a sponsor) or look in the Sales sections for a used stock speaker.

Also, there are plenty of threads on this. A search will present you with plenty of options.

All you need is a used stock speaker to replace the blown one or a pair of aftermaket replacements so the left/right match. As for which aftermarket replacements, Kee Audio has some good options. There have been some recent threads on what he has and how they perform.

I found these on just the first two pages:

There are a couple stickies too, but I think they refer to older models.

as said above stay away from BestBuy and CircuitCity. looking thru those links posted above you can find exactly what ull need. simply replacing the speaker with a stock one will be perfect and a simple install as stated above

A brand new speaker from the dealer (P/N 9365799) is about $76 - available online for about half that price. That would be another option if you're not comfortable buying a used one.

And you don't need an aftermarket headunit.

I swapped all my speakers to my stock headunit in an hour, and it only took that long because I couldn't figure out how to remove the door panel.
