12.971@102.63 in a bolt-ons only 4200# 96 impala SS
I got 5 runs in tonight at HRP. I really didn't expect to get that many since it was the first night for the track to be open since before Christmas and because the weather was AWESOME.
I was the first person in the staging lanes and the first person to cross the finish line agianst another car. 13.501@97.39 with a 1.736 sixty foot. The car layed down BAD at about 5000 in 3rd and had very little power forcing a shift into OD where it still had very little power. I guessed that since I purposely ran the gas tank low, that I might be running out of fuel on the top end. I put a few gallons in and tried again.
When I get back I let it cool down a bit and make another pass. 13.161 @ 101.14 with a 1.712 sixty foot
I then pull the serpentine belt and remove the dirty K&N cone from my RAISS and spin a bit off the line getting a 1.699 sixty foot and netting a 13.083 @ 101.67.
Ok, it's 10 o'clock and it's starting to get late. I had been waiting in the staging lanes for a long while (we pushed the car into the lanes, but I drove it to the line.) I shallow stage a little bit deeper than normal and bring the RPM up to about 2500-3000. The light drops and so does my foot. 1.709 sixty foot, 8.188 @ 82.66 1/8th mile, 10.778 thousand foot, and finally a 12.971 @ 102.63mph!!! :o I get out of my car to check to see if I got the right number on the timeslip since I got beat by a Lightning. Yep! It has my entry number 252 on it like all the rest of my slips. I've got a 12 second impala!
I'm betting some other board members were there and probably saw me make a few passes.

I feel like rodney Dangerfeild. I'm getting no respect.
Do ya'll think that 12s is just no big deal anymore or something? Raceweight was about 4200# and I drove it to the track pretty much just like it ran. The first weekend that I had the car, it ran 15.50s at Hallsville. Now 5 years later I've dropped that by moe than two and a half seconds with boltons.

Awesome times. I too have a bolt on only LT1. And actually the 2nd fastest bolt on LT1 6spd Camaro known Your times are very impressive especially since its @4200 lbs! Good job. What was the DA when you raced. Also awesome 60's. 1.6's is hooking good. I need a new clutch badly Its slipping for atleast 30'.

Supposedly* my car was the 4 impala to break into the 12s with bolt-ons. The 2 quickest ran 12.55 and 12.57 in a side by side race last year. Supposedly, mine was the first to do it with the stock rockers and valve springs though.
* I said supposedly because I know of one other that ran 12.80s years ago with the stock rockers and springs, but he never sent that timeslip in.

Cheston,
Congrats on breaking into the 12s. You are right about getting these large cars going quickly. I have been following the conversations on the Impala SS Forum.
I need to work on dropping my 60ft time down closer to 1.5/1.6sec range and I'll be extremely happy with my car. I'm number 90 on the Top ET Page, with my horribly slow 1.901sec 60 ft time.

I was happy when I got my first 1.8, then 1.7, but was shocked with the 1.6
Oh yeah, didn't we line them up at the last ImpalaFest? I remember beating an LS1 powered B-body at the drags, but don't remember who it was. Good thing for me that it was only 1/8th mile racing. I was running 9.0s on regular street tires. I wish I would've brought my drag radials so I would've had a chance against Chris Nickell's heads and cam car.
