Best low end torque cam for LS1..
I have read tons of post in this section and have learned a lot about cams, or so I thought. I have read tons of post on all the latest "big" cams and how much top end power they make but what about real usable power under the curve for everyday driving? Seems like most people here are trying to make the most top end power they can with the biggest cam they can find. Nothing wrong with that as I am sure most of you take your cars to the track on a regular basis and every little bit helps. I want to know what you all think the best "street" cam is for good drivability (I know it's subjective) and all around good low end "seat of the pants" power. Don't intend to ever spray, go to the track maybe once a year, just want the car to have a nice sounding lope and make good useable power that I can feel between 2,500 and 6,000rpm's. Can somebody point the spotlight in the opposite direction for me? I was going for the TR224/112 which I have read good things about but is there a better choice for me? Thanks, and I'm sorry to have to ask this but I just can't find my exact question.
Oh, standard bolt-ons will apply. Headers/LS6 intake ect.

Thanks for the replies. Well my SS is just a garage queen and maybe I will change my mind and want a big cam later but right now I don't see the need for it. Unless I hear of a better one I should probably go with the 224. I think I would be very happy with 400rwhp.

As you probably learned in your search there are compromises. To maximize low end torque in the 2000 to 4000 range you need to shorten intake duration which will affect peak HP. The TR224 is a nice overall cam but will not maximize torque in that range.

400 corrected at the flywheel , yes.
I have the Tr224 and I like it. Lost nothing low end. Heads are in the very near future. Its just a matter of AFR 205s or MTI

The 047 cam fits that pretty well.

I made over 400RW threw an A4 running the TR224 with a set of LS6 heads ported by my buddy....Along with all the boltons LSX,90TB,headers etc I trapped 124 threw and A4 so I KNOW this was at least 420RW but I never has it on the dyno, only tuned it on the street/track...The TR224 on a 112 makes KILLER TQ and I love the TR grinds...

I have the MTI CI cam (222 duration) on a 112 LSA. I love it - it has more torque than stock from idle to redline. I gave up nothing but picked up over 50 RWHP and 35 RWTQ. Great driveablility and a nasty idle.
A buddy in my club is running the hot cam - it sounds really impressive - the idle is really choppy. Results were not bad either - he ran a 12.18 at 112 through an A4 with a 3500 stall - dyno'd at 377 RWHP. Stock heads, LTs, ORY, loudmouth with a bullet in the I-pipe.

I am looking for the same type of cam as you are. I have narrowed my list to the Futral cams f10-f13. I just don't want to shift past 6500 on a stock bottem end engine.
