Default Strobe lights on a WS6

I thought long and hard about it and I figured that if I did get em, where would I put em. I thought about in the turn signal area, but then if the car was running you would have the yello lights and the strobes going, so I thought the brake ducts, but then id be screwinf up the airflow, so I dont know now. Whats everybodys 2 cents on this and dont call me a ricer.

I dont know why to be hones with ya. It was just a thought. My car really has nothing on it for show, it "looks" the same way it did when it rolled out the factory.I have a friend that has em on his car (and he is a ricer) and one night just for kicks we drove up behind cars, turned em on and they pulled over (ahhh good times), but it woulda sucked if a cop saw us. But one reason i like em is becase the CE pace cars had them and thats what gave me the thought for em, just wanted to know everyones 2 cents about it.

Go for it. Yeah most would consider it a ricer mod, but its fun. As for placement, I dunno.

hey stang killer

Thats not a bad Idea. I do agree with you on how cool it would look. I dont recommend filling in the air ducts though.

If you ever come up with anything (like pics or maybe even videos) gave me a shout.

Thanks

ive thought of it, but only in the turnsignals, and the side market lights, and backup lights.

Figure 8 heavyduty strobes would rock, but im not paying $200 for the real ones, so i have no plans on installing autozone ones in my car anytime soon.

I think it would look , just because some imports have them on there cars doesn't make them rice. I can remember over a year ago when I would mention the GReddy oil catch can some thought that was rice, now you see many using it or some other type of oil catch can. For all those who think strobes lights are rice I hope you don't have clear corners, nitrous, super chargers, big tires, chrome wheels or anything else that might make your car look cool, I'm sure you wouldn't want to be considered a ricer.

Oh good greif! Rice??? Where the heck do you guys and gals come up with this crap???

I guess all of the Corvette, Camaro, Trans Am, Monte Carlo and Grand Prix Pace Cars are Rice huh??

Good greif - Oh and I guess all the Police Cars are Rice too!

Just because you don't like it or feel it isn't a good idea does not justify calling it Rice, I know those idiots have done a fantasic job of ruining the art of automobile customization, but come on.

DROP THE FRIGGIN LINE RICE!!!!

And honestly I think strobe lights for show are really COOL!!

Climbing off my soap box.

Al

You have a couple things mixed up. An oil catch can (as opposed to a Folger's Coffee can) is a modification to the powertrain of the car. Same goes for N20 or a supercharger. Clear corner lights, strobe lights, big ugly stickers, glowing windshield washer fluid sprayers, single wipers which never tuck down like normal ones would... These are all superficial crap intended to make the car LOOK high performance without actually adding anything to the car's performance capability.

Now when you're talking about tires, are you talking about taller over-all tire height with wider rims offset so that the outside is where it should be or are you talking about goof ball rubber-band tires wrapped around 19" mirrors which stick out 4" past the stock location? One is a performance modification which aids in traction and putting power to the ground. The other is goofball rice junk which does little but play hell on the suspension geometry.

Can you guess which is which?

so should i buy the strobe kit with the lights bulbs wires and relay, or just get the relay box and wire it into my turn signals.

On the other hand I wanted my car because i wanted to go fast AND look good while doing so. Ive done most my performance mods, and i havent added anything looks wise besides a set of springs. Its not like the weight is gona effect my track times so im not worried about it, and as soon as I get em and installed I will post pics, but i need everyones opinion on one more thing. what color? Dont give me thoes wacky colors either (pink, green)

What color is your car? If it is black, i think red strobes would look sweet . Maybe just normal white light? it's hard to say without knowing the car color.

And in response to Gag_Halfront:

quote:
. Clear corner lights, strobe lights, big ugly stickers, glowing windshield washer fluid sprayers, single wipers which never tuck down like normal ones would... These are all superficial crap intended to make the car LOOK high performance without actually adding anything to the car's performance capability.

The other is goofball rice junk which does little but play hell on the suspension geometry.

So if we add anything to our cars that doesnt boost HP, then we are rice? . And as for rims, so if we were to buy our fbody from the factory with chrome rims b/c we like the look, then we are ricers as well? it doesnt help performance, but it looks great. and i happen to think shiny rims, 18s are good on fbodies, combined with a lower ride height and lowprofile tires, makes the car look alot meaner. Its not meant to make the car look faster, just look better. there's my .02

duh... appearance mods are always in the eye of the beholder, but simplicity with appearance mods yield good results (nice looking car).

For instance, 18 inche chrome wheels are acceptable, they are both performance and appearnce mods. They also fill that "4x4" gap on our cars once dropped and also look good.

But what good does a ******* strobe light do to the car? If you wan't to add appearance mods because you are all done with the performance mods then don't add something stupid, its better to have a simpler looking car than one with all kind of crap on it. Looks tacky as hell.

There are all kind of appearance mods to do to make the car look good, look at Steve's, Todd's, Andy's and many more members on here (too many have nice cars to list )

You might be thinking this might be a "stand-out" mod from rest of the F-bodys, but cmmon man think about how silly that crap would look.

Sorry for long post, but I hate nice powerful cars (whatever make) looking like RICE

So much controversey over 2 lights, the only neon style lights that I accually like, and im getting heat like im throwing a light in every corner of the car. O well, like you said its all in the eye of the beholder. Not like your gona be able to tell that I have them if you see me just ridding around. When I get to the point when I think that lights, and stickers make me go faster, then you can jump me.

1st off, I agree 100% with Xsta Z 28 . And this is probably the 1st time I heard of strobes being rice.

2nd, I love strobes, and the best way to put them is where they can't really be noticed until they are on. If it was me, I'd think they would look really good in the fog lights (don't have both running at the same time though).
