Default Finally After 3 Years I'm Getting Tint

But I'm having trouble deciding if I should go with 15% or 5% or 5% on the rear and 15% on the front windows???

I had 15% on my Grand Prix and loved it and never got pulled over in the car and thats making me want to go with 15%, but I know that 5% would look better, but it just makes it so damn hard to see at night.

What have you guys done and have you had any regrets?

BTW I mentioned vinyl on the matrix and the guy said that he doesn't use it because it doesn't last. The guy has had his shop for 22 years and said that they haven't found a fix for the matrix other than painting it. But he said I could come back anytime if it starts to bubble up, it just sucks that I have to drive an hour and a half to get it fixed if it needs it.

But anyway I'm pretty stoked about getting my windows done

you'll be happy with pretty much any of the choices your thinking about. i have 5 on the hatch and 15 on the sides and im happy with it.

With the dot matrix, take this from the people who have tint on there, DO NOT PUT TINT THERE. if he doesn't want to use vinyl, get the vinyl and do it yourself or have someone else do that, or paint it before you take the car to him. Even if the vinyl wont "last" at least it will look good while it does last, wand IF you ever start to have problems with it, it can easily be removed and redone, or painted. -the only reason i put paint as a second option is because its harder to reverse if you ever need to for any reason.

with tint, you will NOT lile the dot matrix area ever, from the day it gets tinted, to the entire time you have it. Do it right the first time.... coming from a person who has done it wrong with both cars and had it tinted instead of the other options

I have 30% sides, 15% rear, with black vinyl over the dot matrix, then the tint was applied.

Well I have a buddy thats a painter and if they can't get the tint to lay down on the matrix then I'll have him trim the tint, tape it, and paint it since hes the pro haha

I'm not saying that the vinyl is a bad idea, but I have seen the work this place puts out and its top notch, but then again I have never seen an f body that they have done, but lost of dot matrix and they looked good even after 3 or 4 years. But for $240 it better be ******* good, but I'm getting the strip on the windshield done too and thats $30 extra

3 more days....I decided to go with 15% all around so I don't have to worry so much about getting pulled over.

Here on Friday its suppost to be 90* and humid as hell and I don't have A/C and I have to keep the windows up for a few hours, but we don't have a door frame so I hope I'm ok rolling down my windows or else the drive home is going to SUCK

But I'll get some before and after pics on friday, I'm just tired of waiting

Ihave 5% on the rear with vinal over the dots, its all been on there for 6years now! no problem and looks great.

I'm also leary about doing my side windows, 15% would look good, 30% probably isnt worth it.

I have 5% all the way around and 30% on the windshield, you get used to it.

Dot matrix looks good, but there are a couple small places. I was still planning to strip it and use vinyl, that works best, just get a good quality piece of vinyl, they're rated for uv protection and all kinds of stuff.

Gf has a GT and we put vinyl the dot matrix and it looks great and has for a couple years now.

Well, don't know about ya'll but in SC they will bust your *** for too dark a tint. I had 20% on my Mustang and got a $420 dollar ticket. Beautiful huh? I was pissed. I paid 120 bucks to have it done just to have to tear it off. The limit here is 27%. Bull I know.

Just so ya know you can't roll down the windows after tinting for at least a few days while it dries out. Maybe even more in a high humidity environment... 15% on the sides is also pretty dark and cops will use it as a ticket excuse when they pull you over.

Well the lady at the tint shop talked me out of 5% and I got 15% on sides and the back and the strip on the windshield. It was a ******* heat index of 97* when we left the tint shop with the windows up and no AC. It was tolerable, but I didn't like it too much LOL

Car looks much better now, but I need to buff out some scratches on all of my windows, its funny how you don't notice stuff like that. And I'm going to have my buddy spray the top black, I think it would look alot better and blend everything together alot nicer.

Its raining out right now, but I'll get some pics after the tint sets up, but the dot matrix look perfect right now with zero bubbles
