i was thinking about removing the sidemolding from my car and wanted to know if anybody had any issues with it leaving marks on the white cars please let me know!

just heat up the moldings and pull them off carefully, any old tape res. left over will come off.

I'd be more worried about the white under the molding being brighter than the rest of the car after this many years. The glue should come off easily enough but if there is any discoloration you'll see it on white.

My car being blue and in the AZ sun for the last 10 years or so had no paint fade when I pulled mine. One of the best mods I ever did.

mines white. i did it without issue. i would not however if the car has had any paint work because a lot of shops dont pull the molding off

I did my 01 SS a few years back and it had been a southern car all its life with a lot of sun. Besides the leftover tape/residue being a pita to get off, you couldn't tell it ever had molding. Just make sure your car hasn't been repainted first.

Make sure the molding hasnt been painted over. Otherwise, its straight forward and looks great.

the car has not been repainted or had any work done body wise, sounds like the molding will be coming off then just wanted to make sure nobody has had any problems with stains from dirt buildup or anything over the years cant wait to get it all off! thanks again guys

I did this to my car. I used a heat gun and just pulled it off. It still left some glue and black lines on the outside edge but I just put some wd-40 on a rag and wiped it off. It was a little brighter white underneath, but once it sat outside in the sun for a week it faded to the same white...

I did mine about a week ago actually. There is a really good write-up on how to get the adhesive off quickly that involved pulling it parallel to the car, stretching it so it releases.

Anyway, the paint underneath was fine on mine (2000 Arctic White T/A) and I live in Alabama and I don't think it saw a garage before I bought it. However some painting had been done on the tiny piece on the front fender so if you're close you can see that.

If your car hasn't been painted, it should be fine. White doesn't really fade that much, so you ought to be in good shape.

i had worries when i bought my car but everything was great under the molding. just get some goo-gone and be prepared to have sore thumbs.

Took mine off a couple of days ago. No problems, cleaned up nice but getting the glue strip off was a total pita. Also took of the TRANS AM from the doors.

Fishing line to remove the molding with most of the glue. Use some heat to make it easier and quicker. I had very little residue left over and just claybarred the car and then waxed. Would never know it had molding.

Luckily, mine was took off before I bought the car so no de-molding for me.

Did my 99 Arctic White a couple of months ago. As people have already said, you can't even tell there was molding on the car. The paint underneath was in good shape and matched perfectly. Good Luck.

I couldn't agree more with this statement especially on a white car. My car had obviously been painted before I bought and when I did the molding removal there some serious lines left behind. The car was wet sanded and compounded and for the most part we got rid of them, but the driver's door is still visible if you're looking for it. I can put up some pics of my side molding removed if you want to see it.
