MY WS1 hood modification. check it out!
so i finally cut up my ws6 hood. been wanting to try this for a while. a ws1 is technically defined by being a ws6 or 9 and removing the filler bars on it. lots of guys were worried about it damaging the structual integrity of the hood. and the hood splitting and going into the windshield. the way i have done it, i am not worried in the least about this. i used long and short stand fiberglass filler. and i bought hood pins to reassure myself. i absolutely love the way this looks. it reminds me of the superhawk hood. btw, i did all of this with a dremel and some sand paper. i cut off the very nose of the hood that sits over the front bumper. and i built up the front bumper to match the contour changes in the hood that i had created. i will have painted pics soon. i have the hood done but the car is being resprayed. ive got one coat left to put on. so painted pics will come later this week. but for now, here are the progress pics! ill do my best to answer any questions for those of you who have thought about doing this. and feel free to hate or love. i know you all will anyway. lol

Looks good. I've always liked the dual big nostril look of the Firehawk and SLP HO hoods better than the quad nostril look of the WS6.
I like how you built-up the center point of the bumper to match the ridge-line of the hood. That's a nice touch that blends it all together.
A black Pontiac Arrowhead would look good in that new built up point in the middle. I think the G8 GT had a black arrowhead.

awesome man. i may have to steal this idea from you. it doesnt look like you messed with the hood latch area at all....so why are you worried about it. get those ugly hood pins off there. or at least switch to aerocatch

Looks good, some good work put in there. Maybe it's the angle of the camera, but it looks like the bumper meeting the hood is a little off from driver to passenger side in these shots, like the driver side has a more pronounced angle than the passenger side? Might just be eyes playing tricks on me.

well if you start on it youll see that you have to take out quite a bit of material. and the strength of the hood comes from the folded fiberglass. idk that it would separate, but if i feel froggy on the interstate and decide to hit 120+ then it could easily happen, because the air gets pushed into the gap. i just wanted to be safe rather than sorry. and the pins were painted with the hood. they are pretty unnoticable now.
