How to clean 4 year old weld wheels --->
My poor prostars have been very horrible looking for the past few years. Just lack of maintanence made them that much worse (especially after having to drive it thru the salt 2 years ago)
I'm getting ready to mount some new front runners so I decided while the wheels are off the car...maybe I can partially revive them.
The plan:
wash the wheel thoroughly
wet sand with 230 grit to get rid of alot of the imperfections
wet sand with 330 to remove 230 scratch marks
wet sand with 800 ...
wet sand with 1000 ...
wet sand with 1500 ...
apply metal polish and buff with 6" power buffer
After 1 hour of working on the one wheel (with the fiancee helping)
this is the outcome
Too bad the lighting is kinda poor but there is a NIGHT AND DAY difference...aside from the dings and some remaining minor scratches...they look nearly new
sitting next to the untouched wheel

Great work, they look good!
I've known people with pickups and AL wheels that get really nasty.. They take them to places that Acid wash AL cattle trailers when they don't have tires mounted acid wash them and start working their way up from there.
