Default Afterthoughts Auto Caliper Decal ???

I painted my calipers SOM this past weekend and received my Afterthoughts Auto Caliper Decals yesturday and was wondering if I clear coat the calipers first then apply the decal or put the decal on first then clear coat over them?

Will the clear coat stick to the decal?

I would not clear over the decal. Unneccessary. Just make sure that the apint is good and dry, them wipe with denatured alcohol and apply decal. It will be there for a long time.

I'd put clear over the decal to prevent it from peeling up later on.

Post some pics of the SOM calipers
You can clear over them - I have done lots of work with vinyl both ways. Just use light even coats.

I applied caliper decals on my TA in September and they have yet to come up with no clear coat at all. They are also washed 3 times a week

I make decals like this. They make stuff to protect it. If its good vinyl and you put it on a clean surface. You dont need to worry about it coming off. The problem is with small sharp edges. Peeling. Clear coat could peel the vinyl back.

Has that happened? I would not think there is a down side to clearing over the vinyl.

I've cleared over vinyl as well. No problems here and the vinyl was permanently THERE after the clear coats had dried.

No problems here with that. I would do it again.
