SOM of a B!#ch Calipers
I finally finished these damn things. What a pain in the ***. It took me about 3 weekends to finish them. Here are the steps I took:
1) took the brackets off but left the calipers attached.
2) scrubbed both with brake cleaner and a wire brush
3) painted the brackets and rotors with Plasticoat caliper paint
4) put the brackets back on and taped off then re-attached the calipers to the brackets. Used a plastic grocery bag to cover the brackets and other things.
5) sprayed 2-3 coats of Duplicolor high temp engine enamel primer
6) sprayed 2-3 coats of SOM paint from the dealer (5oz. can)
7) sprayed 2-3 coats of Duplicolor high temp clear
They look good to me but I hope they hold up because I'm not doing that again

Yeah, I didn't work on them during the week but I did all the painting at once. So basically I would do the primer one weekend, color the next weekend and clear the last weekend. That High temp paint says it needs 3-5 days to cure before painting over it so thats what I did.

I didn't use primer on mine. I sprayed color, waited 20min. another coat of color, waited 20 min. and then clear/20min. and clear/20min. then put on car.
For those who need it to dry quickly, you can use the brush on G2 paints.

If I redo mine, I will use this.

I did mine in one night on my SOM. I Had to use the touch up paint cans aswell. No one wanted to sell me a can in SOM cause no one had em LOL. Bastards, but yea they look great man. EXACT same color scheme as mine too.
