Window Tint
I wanna get my windows tinted and don't know much about em, Whats % everyone running, I"m in Indiana, so I think like 20-30 is the darkest, not really sure on how much I care about the legal part of it just what looks good on my car being black on black already

It seems most people go darker than legal, but I've always just had mine done legally, and have been happy with it. I'm also in Indiana, and the guy who does mine gives me a lifetime warranty on it and charges just a little over $100.

I got 20% on the sides and 15% on the hatch glass to cover my system. When you've had them for a while they are not really that dark. In fact as the days go by i notice more and more how "not dark" they are. I wish i would have done 15%/5% or just 5% all around, but i'm still kind of scared of 5% on the sides.

Something else you'll probably run into, is the dreaded ceramic dots problem on the back glass. I just had them tinted over on my last TA, and I wasn't real happy with it (because the tint can't get flush with the glass in between the dots), so this time I think I'll have him go ahead and use black vinyl to cover the dots on my 02 TA. He gave me the option then, I just didn't think it would matter...but I was very wrong. lol.

i defenately agree about the dots. mine is all bubbled up where they are. i have 30 on the sides and wish it was darker, maybe 20 or 15. on the back i have 5 and love it. if it isn't backlit, you can't see **** from the outside. its not too bad as far as visibility either.

make sure to check if your state check window tint during the safety inspection. My friend just moved from VA to MD, got his car inspected (35% on the sides, no bac b/c he has a convert) and it registered at 32% (these cars have a little tint on them from the factory) so they failed him. Thankfully he found someone who could get him the right sicker ;-)

I live in VA where the lowest legal is 50 percent on the sides and 35 on the back. I got 35 on the sides and 20 on the back. I think it is very nice but i could see where some would want it darker. And yes the bubbles are a pain. Also if your window has every been moved, wheather in an accident or replaced door motor, you might run into some rubbing on the inside of the door so watch out for that. its expensive to be fixed. But every car needs some tint

On mine, the tint place used tint all the way up to the dots and then cut a line. Where the dots are they used a black sticker, not tint, to cover the dots. From the outside (believe it or not) you cannot even tell the sticker is there. It just looks like the factory put a black border on the top of the window, not the dots. You cannot even tell the dots are there.

Yeah, the vinyl is far superior for the black dots. I went with 5% on the back and tops, which is all that is "legal" in CA. But, I still might get something light on the sides. This is 5% in the back (car's getting washed later tonight)
