I used translucent red paint from the hobby store. The third-gen guys have been doing it forever.

I like it because it reminds me of the Vipers. It'll look much better after I install a Berger style panel IMO.

Cool, I may do that now I really like how it looks. What was the exact paint you used? and the process of how to do that? Thanks.

Only the second time I've seen this done on a 4th gen, but I think it looks good that way. If only there was a way to get rid of the black lines, so it really would be all red.

I simply cleaned the lenses with rubbing alcohol, taped off what I didn't want red, and sprayed (MANY light coats) of a translucent red paint (said it was good for plastics, got it from a local hobby shop).

If you didn't tape off the black lines (as I did) you could pretty much get rid of the black lines and make it close to all red.

The "slants" is actually just caused by the flash.

It's really straight forward, TAKE YOUR TAIL LIGHTS OFF THE CAR (don't want to end up with overspray on the car).

Then just clean the lens with rubbing alcohol. Let that evaporate then tape off the part you DON'T want red.

Make sure you tape along the lens COLOR edge (be it white or amber). NOT the edge of the plastic that it is made of. Tape OVER the black part following right on the edge of where you see the color.

It's just hard to put into words but you will see when you start. You want to only paint the area that is clear or amber NOT ANY BLACK area or it will look weird.

Spray it in LIGHT coats, let it dry, then spray again. I painted it outside in the daylight letting the sun dry it fast.

I used a full can (which is a SMALL can, not the normal spray paint can size) between the two lenses.

I don't remember the exact brand but just go to ANY hobby store and get a can of TRANSLUCENT RED and you'll be good to go.

Test the color on another object first. If you like it, spray away !

I sprayed the outside.

If you could spray a car clear coat on it afterwards that would be even better.
