I pitty your ears man! I wussed out after about 50 miles driving with an open cutout. Mine is a QTP, so I put the bolts that came with it in from behind, then put some nuts on them and tightened them down, and then I put the plate on and then used the supplied nuts to hold the plate in place. Sounds just as mean at idle, but nowhere near as obnoxious as when it was wide open.

I also have mine in the floor of the ash tray. It allows it to be easily removed and i didn't have to really butcher anything up either. If i want to go back to stock which i plan to do when i get a Corsa, i'll just put a stock ashtray back in. One thing i did was i ported the hole in the ash tray where the light is so i could get more light in there to light up the switch area at night.

Originally I used a convertible top switch (with the TOP part painted over) and used a factory plate to mount it and my Nitrous Gauge:

Then I got a bottle opener so I used the above pictured switch for the bottle opener and the bottle opener switch for my cut out. I mounted that switch on the console behind the shifter. You can kind of see it here:

I like your setup, demonbird!

Slightly off topic, but I read on speedinc that the QTP electric cutout is variable... that is... not just open or closed, but anywhere in between. Is that true?

yup, it takes about 5-6sec to go from fully open to closed and visa versa. so you can let go of the toggle switch at any time and let it partially open

cool

Would it be possible to use the steering wheel buttons to control a cut out or bottle opener etc?

Would be cool to have a use for the volume on the steering wheel again

There are several write-up's on this board. I don't know if they're still around since I've done this mod several months ago. It works great and looks stock. If you aren't completly noob when it comes to electrical stuff, you should be fine.

Same thing I'm going to do. I've already got the panel and TCS switch (my car doesn't have TCS), but I haven't got around to ordering a 'vert switch yet.

The one closest is the cutout switch, the one in the background is my line lock.
