Default paint opinions

well guys, four years of non-garaging, cheap car washes (or lack thereof), high school and college parking, daily driving (most of the 4 years), and other miscellaneous abuse has taken its toll on my car. my car has been keyed, egged, curbed, hit in 4 different places, and has seen pretty much every element these NY/NJ roads can throw at it.

this winter, my car will be tucked away for a heads/cam swap. i also have new suspension and some nice wheels goin on the car, and i dont want my garbage exterior to ruin it. so the car will for its first time see a body shop.

my question is: do you guys think i should go ahead and paint the whole car, or just repair the current damage? i'm not the pickiest person in the world, but i can spot a repaint from a mile away. has anyone ever done this and had bad experience? what do you guys think?

also forgot to mention that i will probably also be getting a SS hood. so the car will definately need paint on the hood, bumper, passenger fender, and the passenger door.

dont paint it a different color

and do all the prep work yourself

anyone can spray, but the prep is what makes a good paint job. you will also save lots of money doing your own prep

i cant do prep work man. i did the prep work on my friends chevelle and it was way too time consuming for me. i just wanna drop it off and pick it up.

i was thinking maybe a different shade of silver if anything, or just add some flake to it.

if i were you i would go with a full repaint, and get something just a little bit different like you said so you can really tell a difference when you get it back.

If you want to keep it silver id look into GM quick silver paint, i used it for my ceta mod and blackbird stripes, i really like the way it looks. Its a pretty sweet silver color.

Take the car to a professional detailer, not an autobody guy. Have the car compounded and the whole nine yards. It'll come out nice.

what do you mean? the car has to go to an autobody guy anyway to fix the body problems, its just a matter of whether or not i should go all out and paint the whole car.
