Default Show me your painted Manta scoops..

Close ups if you have em.. I'm looking for the 'seam' going from the regular paint to the scoop color..

I'm getting my scoop painted soon, and I'm wondering if I want to spend extra to have to paint blended or to just have a 'seam'... Black scoop on a red car.

Thanx..

DEFINATELY paint it.

I had a red manta stripe on my black camaro. The thing was 1)- the BIGGEST PAIN IN THE *** TO PUT ON RIGHT and 2)- FADED VERY QUICKLY.

Vinyl is great in the begining. It looks like paint.. the seam isnt too bad. But as time goes on (1-2 years) even if garage kept the water elements from washing the car makes the vinyl look like garbage. You will see water marks on the vinyl. And the black will fade alittle and look less black and almost grey. I mean, it wont be totally grey, but it will look like faded black.

If you can afford to go painted.. I say paint it.

I loved my vinyl. But it faded and I took it off. I mean, it is just vinyl so if you hate it you can always rip it off. I paid 150 for the front manta stripe and the rear stripe that goes on the spoiler and under the spoiler.

After I ripped it off I was gonna have it painted on but decided to go with the sunoco hood. I want the blackbird stripes but I learned my leason. I am gonna have it painted on.

Best of luck man either way.

I actually did it myself for around $30 in supplies, as opposed to a quote I got for $250. It's gloss black, about the same gloss as the sail panels. There are a few places where the paint is not perfect (inside 90* edge) but you have to look really hard. As far as the seam, its very small. The layers of paint are thin and I sanded it down. If you have the extra money to have it blended, then I'm sure it will look awesome. But if you don't, you probably won't be banging your head later wishing you would have. Just my opinion.
