Default Anybody run a powerglide in a heavy car?

Just curious if anybody is running a powerglide in a heavy car, and how does it work?

I know they are usually used for light cars, but figured i'd ask

Look at the overall reduction, a 4.10 rear gear with a TH400 has 10.18:1 launch reduction (not including converter), to get that with a powerglide you will need a 5.60 rear gear to get the same reduction.

Not saying it can't be done, I am pretty sure the editor of Hot Rod has a army green street camaro with a 1000+ hp small block with a glide. youtube search FBOMB camaro....

What are your intentions with the car? What kind of power are you making?

car is track only. 1/4 mile.

plan to be around 550-600rwhp on spray, and spray it all the time

28" tall tire, 3.90 gears, haven't picked a convertor yet.

Hello I have build glides for cars as heavy as 3,800. Only way to go IMO. The higher low gear helps on tire spin.

Metallica,
We build many a glides as you know and run them in real street, ultimate street so on. i would recomend a 400. A glide will definately work with a 3800 lb car but more power would be needed. The glide will be much easier on tire spin if you have more power then this would be benificial.
