Default Trans fluid in C5 Vette

I need to replace the trans gasket on my wife's '98 C5 Vette.
How much fluid will it take, from just removing the pan.
Thanks.

Where the Hell is the fill plug.
I found the drain plug.
Is that the only plug for draining and filling?
Thanks

The plug on the side of the pan isn't the drain plug. You remove the pan to drain it fully. Definitely replace the filter while you are in there. The plug on the side is the fill plug. Like stated befor fill it till it runs out, then start the car and fill it in neutral. Then put the plug back in and run the car through the gears on the lift then check the fluid level again and top it off if need be.

I got it changed, what was the big plastic part, it was just kind of hanging there.
Hope I didn't get too much fluid in there.
What do you torque the bolts to?
Thanks everyone.

The plastic part was the filter. Torque spec is 18ftlbs I believe.

I thought that was the filter, but I didn't mess with it.
18 ftlb was what I found.
Thanks again Jeremy.

For pan bolts? I would go with 98-108inlbs. Maybe you were thinking about the fill plug.

Yeah, the manual on my '99 TA said 18ftlb, but when I tried to torque them to 18ftlb, that was way to much. So I just torque them by feel.
So 98-108inlbs is probally about right.
Thanks Vince.

Yeah, you need a transfer pump for sure. It wasn't bad at all, hell the pan almost fell in my face.
