What could it be?
Car is a cam only lq4 with 3.73 gears running a 26" tire with a circle d 4k converter, not exactly which model it is but I believe it is a mult-disk. It's been a while since I purchased it. Problem is I'm running out of gear I'm shifiting into third at about 7xmph and fourth running out of gear at 9xmph. My question is this a mechanical issue or just a bad combo of parts. Transmission is shifting fine and not slipping and fluid looks good. Car had been sitting for months while new motor was installed. Even daily driving I noticed the converter feels more loose then previously before doing the motor swap, but that could just be me. I've pm'd circle-d to see what they think. Thanks.

Your transmission is slipping or something.
With 3.73's and 26" tires in 4th should be running at 3565 RPM plus converter slip.
And if you are redlining at say 6100 the converter is slipping 2565 rpm. Thats way too much or you've got serious tuning or mechanical problems.

Well the tuner stated that the trans was shifting fine as he was looking at it in the tune. I'm leaning towards a mecanical issue. Is it possible for a converter to go bad and get "looser". I curious to hear what circle-d thinks. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow if I get a chance.

Yea he logged the runs. It was not on a chassis dyno. We did wot runs on a back county road. Not sure exactly what was happening during wot but the tuner said everything looked good. He thinks the converter is just too loose of a converter for the setup I have.

He didn't force lockup. We did 35mph and 40 rolls. Third gear would finish quickly and then onto fourth and never was able to go over 100mph due to 4th beginning to redline.

I noticed normal driving it takes a lot of rpm to get moving more than what it used to be before replacing the motor. But that could just be me from not driving the car in so long. Lockup is set around 40mph and drives fine. No sign of slipping tranny when cruising.

Well since it drives normal at cruising then it appears like its the converter. You said it seems more loose under part throttle. So full throttle may be just blowing it away.

I guess I'll just pull the converter and send it back to Circle-D for a refresh. Do you think I should keep the 4k stall or move down to a 3500. Plan to use 150-200 shot of nitrous.
