For those contemplating a stall
Just wanted to share my experience with my new PerformaBuilt 4k stall. Car is minor bolt on car with lid, lt's, ory, borla, trans go shift kit, 4k stall, 3:42 gears..
Me and a friend put the stall in on Tuesday in almost exactly 5 hours with the cooler (get one!!).. I have babied it until today when I came into work. A co-worker wanted a ride so I figured what the heck and took him even though I haven’t been the FULL 150 miles to break in but it was close enough.
Before the stall I could roast 1st and into second she could start hooking and take off.. If I did a brake stand (burnout) I could easily burn 1st gear and when the car shifted into 2nd half the time it would bog down and the other half it would burn through 2nd..
Now with the stall the car is harder to get going but I assure you it’s not BAD.. If it were my daily I would probably stick with a 3600 instead of the 4000 I have but since mine is a weekend car I don’t care about mileage in the least. Today I went on a blacktop parking lot and just matted it.. first gear lasted all of a second before it shifted into second.. Then it went through second with NO trouble at all.. Second gear was just a formality to getting into 3rd gear.. I ended up having to let out of the car after what felt like forever and the rear starting to get squirrely.. I never looked down at the speedo but 3rd gear was tapped out and then slowly started coming back down when I finally let off...
Moral of the story.... BUY A STALL!!! I can’t wait to see what this thing does at the track!! Traction will be a problem

I second this. I spent a lot of money on every mod and still couldnt get out of the 13's. Bought a performabuilt 4K stall went out and first pass was a 12.48 w 1.68 60'. Dropped over a second off my 1/4 mile time. A stall should be one of the first things to do to an Automatic. Period.

How much higher rpms are you running through town? and at wot?...before/after
For instance...I didn't take into account doing a gear swap would rev higher rpms throughout the whole rpm range. It was a good thing cause it increased my exhaust note.

To pull out of a stop like a sane person the rpm's stay just under 3k.. quick acceleration its a little over 3k.. If I babied it obviously it would be closer to 2k from a stop but its not that bad.. I have 3:42's so that might help a little.. I admit for a daily driver, me personally, it's too loose.. as a weekend car (which it is) its fine.. I havent managed to flash it from a stop and read the rpm's.. There are two problems, I am concentrating on driving, and, the tires instantly spin which skew's the reading.. Lockup seems to happen around 45ish and after lockup she drives like normal..

Frost seems to do great work.. As many as he has tuned he shouldnt have any trouble at all getting you squared away.. I am going to BlueCat in Ashland Ky for my tune.. I would use Frost but for an extra 50 bucks I get a full dyno tune, with dyno sheets.. Hard to beat

could you drive around in OD a little bit for me and tell me what your rpms are at 35-50mph?
