Default tranny cooler questions

got my huge tube and fin installed today.just ondering if anyone can tell me which port on the transmission case is the return and which one is the supply to the tranny cooler? i believe the supply should come out of the transmission case,to the top of the radiator cooler, out the bottom of the radiator cooler, through the tube and fin, then back to the tranny.anyway thats how im gonna run it,just need to know which port is which.thanks.

It should run /from the transmission into the bottom of the radiator/ out the top and than to you cooler. From your cooler should go back to the return line to the transmission.

Is it better and more efficient just to run it to an external Super Trans cooler?

I think it's more personal preference. I think either way as long as you get a good sized cooler it will be good to go. I stuidied up for awhile when I did mine and decided to run it with my stock one as well. Don't remember why I did, but I usally do stuff the way I see it helping my car best. Lol don't know if that helped you out at all. GL

run from bottom trans line to bottom of radiator, from top of radiator to bottom of cooler( if cooler has both lines on side , if both lines are on bottom does not matter if right or left, do not mount with both line to top)from top cooler line to top trans line.
I by passed my radiator , I am running one plate-tube and one fin -plate with fans on both and still reach 220 -230 on a hot day running a Yank SS4000 if slow cruse below 10-15 mph for over 20-30 minutes.
Have a freind who is a tech for Dodge dealership who stated that the trans school states that you loose 40% of cooling copasticy if you by pass radiator
as water cooles better than air

I fail to see how running your 200* trans fluid through 200ish* coolant really cools anything. That said i run a 70264 by itself.

X2.
My stock radiator leaked coolant into my line. Strawberry milk in the tranny....not good.

Which brand trans cooler is this? 70264. B&M? Does it require new lines? Braided S/S and -AN fittings perhaps? Looks like an easy 250-300 dollars right there.

Its a B&M, it uses rubber trans line and worm clamps. I wanted a braided setup but didn't have the room in the budget when I put my setup together. I think the cooler was ~$75 at a local speed shop.
