yank converter

It's a stall converter. You should definitely do some reading in the Automatic Transmission section on here, there are literally tons of threads pertaining to them.
Here's a link that I pulled from their website, just tells you some pretty general information on them but it's a good starting point if you want to learn.

Yank a certain brand of a torque converter. You cAn get different torque converter's depending on your build. They range from 2000rpms all the way up to 4000rpm on up. They basically stall a automatic transmission before its shifts into first gear. So if you got a yank 3600 converter(which is average people go with aftermarket cam and bolt on's) it would let your motor whined up to 3600rpm's where your motor makes the most horse power, than the converter will lock up and shift the tranmission into first gear and take off like a bat out of hell! If you have a aggressive cam and automatic trans you need a stall conveter to whined the motor up. With a stock converter the motor would stall out due to the cam. Basically it whines the motor up to where is makes 300plus hp and torque ingages the tranny to take off like a bat out of hell. Hope this helps

No there's not supposed to be a delay. Think of your torque converter sort of like a clutch on a manual transmission car, and a torque converter with a higher stall speed lets your motor accelerate to a higher rpm before grabbing. Also a good torque converter wont be noticeable at part throttle.

Flash stall and brake stall are way different. When you shift into D it is in 1st gear already. It is really hard to tell without more information how big it is. my ss4000 only break stalls to 3100 rpms but if you looked at a data log the converter flashes much higher.

You can always put the car on a lift or car ramps and crawl under or walk under the car and take little plate off the transmission and see what color the stall is. My old 97 WS-6 had a pink stall in it so it was a Vig stall and if its a yank Its gonna be red like my SS4000 is for my 02 Camaro.
