Default Who's Trans to Buy

Have a little dilemma. Blew the rear-end couple weeks ago & it decided to blow the rear planitaries(we think)also. Can rear planitaries be fixed or is it cheaper to get another trans? Who has the best reputation on here? I am only running 335rwhp & drag race 3-4x a year. Thanks

It's quite common to snap a hard part in the transmission when the rearend breaks and vise versa. FWIW- I have found that adding LCA relocation brackets and running the lower hole usually eliminates wheep hop, which is usually what breaks the rearend. It's just cheap insurance and really helps traction.

I run Circle D Transmissions in our 3 Camaros and have never had one break. We bracket race almost every weekend so we really put them to the test. They have spent countless hours in R&D to get the 4L60Es and 6L80Es up to the highest standards and can take pretty much all you can throw at them. At your power level (Even if you add some mods later) it would likely be the last transmission you would ever have to buy for that car. You might have to spend a little extra now, but it's well worth the investment IMO.

Good luck!

Give chuck a call. He was a great guy to deal with and helped me out every step of the way. And the fact that they were able to dyno test both my tranny and converter before they shipped it was a huge selling point for me.

FLT/RPM/PerformaBuilt would be solid choices.

FLT/SS4000 here. And yes trans likes to break when rear goes, ask me how I know. FLT is solid. Gained 3 henrys with just trans swap but my stocker was slipping so might be above average gain!

We have quite a few happy LS1Tech customers.

Here's a couple of examples of our work:

Tim running one of our TH400s in a street/strip combo with 1100 HP.

Rob running one of our 4L80E's.

Josh running our 4L80E in a 6000 lb van with 1500 lb/ft of torque.
