How do you hook your Speedo for TH-400???
Need to hook up Speedo for a TH-400.
I have read all the stickies, most of them are from 2004-2009.
I know you splice your VSS wires with your Wheel Speed Sensor wires.
I'm using my left front wheel sensor. Does it matter which wires are splice to which wires?
I'm using HP Tuners. I had a stock 4L60E, do I remove all the auto trans codes?
I read that auto cars you put in 1.175 for the gear ratio and 26" for the tire size. I have 26" front tires.
I read with HP Tuners, it will not accept the 1.175 for the gear ratio, 2.0 is as low as it will accept.
So someone said to use 2.0 and 44" tire size, which would give you the correct readings. But, HP Tuners want accept the 44", only go as high as
40".
So with a 2.0 gear ratio and a 40" tire size will be close enought.
Is all this correct ?
Looking for people that has done this.
Please don't tell me to read the stickies!!! I already have.
Thanks

Did you try a search? I'm guessing no because I have personally answered this question a couple times myself. Why the **** does everybody try to re-invent the wheel? Later model TH400's came with electronic speed sensors from the factory. Just buy the parts and install them in the transmission. If your car was originally equipped with a 4L60E you don't even need to **** with any tables in the tune. The parts can be purchased from a few of the sponsors on this site (I think Jake's and FTI). I wish somebody would make this a damn sticky already.

Yeah, SMARTASS, I've done a search and read the stickies.
Maybe you need to read my post a little more closely.
I DIDN'T ask about a reluctor wheel and sensor.
If your so smart, why don't you make a DAMN STICKY.
So go **** your fist.

Unfortunate hostility here.
Considering that Rene has 1000+ posts, I'm sure he uses the search function regularly. Unfortunately it often isn't very good. I find that using Google to search this forum often works better. And sometimes other forums have better answers.
I too have answered many questions here more "than a couple times", but I don't mind because the purpose here is to help people. Also each question is often a bit different and the OP doesn't know if it is a significant difference. I keep a file on my computer of frequently asked questions with a set of link to various threads that answer it. That lets me quickly answer similar questions.
Sorry Rene, I don't have the answer to your Q. You might need to put in a value like 2.350 for the gear ratio and then half all the shift speeds (or double them ?? not sure).
I too would like to know how a wheel sensor can be used as the VSS.

So either you have to replace reluctor ring /sensor or use the sensor off the abs on the front wheel? Just making sure I understand this as I am in the middle of the swap

To answer your questions Rene,
1. It doesn't matter which wire goes to which, they can be spliced either way.
2. I would only remove the auto codes that it throws.
3. I would say that make sure you have the most latest update of the HpTuners software. I can put these values in my software and it fully accepts the 1.17 and the 26". My software is the latest version, whichever that is. Besides this, I wouldnt know why it wouldnt accept them, unless you have a 98' car. Maybe the 98's are different, I am not sure. You are trying to change the values in the speedometer section, correct? [HpTuners] -> [Speedo] -> [Gear/tire Calc]
Good luck!
