Default Any particular years of 4L80E required to work with T42 TCM?

Hello,

I am going to use a PSI conversion harness for an LY6 and a 4L80E being run by a T42 TCM.

Is there any certain year of 4L80E required to run this combination?

Any certain system or weird items required?

I have a good 4L80E out of a 2001 2500 Chevy already, so I hope this will work.

Thanks!!

Yes. It will work. Even if it's a diesel or Vortec style.

question what combo ecm and Tcm is every one using for the 4L80E tranny

I have a ls3 iam building I been looking at alot of the vendors websites who sell ecm and tcm kits but they want about 1600. Do I really need to spend that type of cash why is the cost so high when I see ecm for about 200-250 and TCM for about 300-500 anybody knows what works please post part numbers. I know I can least drop the cost down at least 900-1000 bucks depends if I go with used or new

I am now looking into swapping my LS2 for an LS3 and am just learning about PCMs.
All LS3 come standard with a 58x reluctor and as far as I know all GM 58x PCMs use a separate TCM and only support drive-by-wire which requires an electronic throttle.
You might find a suitable PCM/TCM at a junk yard from a recent wreck like a 2010 Camaro.
Personally I likely will retrofit the LS3 with a 24x reluctor (as was done on my LS2) and use older PCMs that support a 4L60E or 4L80E.
Another option is the Holley Dominator ($2000+) which supports 24x and 58x for both drive-by-cable or drive-by-wire and supports the 4L60E/4L80E. (Note the cheaper Holley HP does not support a trans.)

So you cheapest solution is probably to retrofit a 24x reluctor, which is a good time to install ARP rod bolts and a few other upgrades.

thanks for that information but I already knew about the Holley Dominator and it cost a lot and it does not even include wires
here is what a user posted for an ls1

Part number and price - Prices pulled from SummitRacing on 4-3-2014:

Dominator ECU - Part # 200R574A - $1,781.95
LS1 Main Harness - Part # 558-102 - $334.95
Main Power Harness - Part # 558-308 - $54.95
4L60/80 Trans Harness - Part # 558-405 - $155.95
LS Injector Harness - Part # 558-201 - $89.95
Wide Band O2 Sensor - Part # 554-101 - $91.95
100PSI Pressure Transducer - Part # 554-102 - $111.95

that is about 2600 plus
here is a low cost over the counter setup
so far for a 4L65E setup for a ls3 58x reluctor setup
thanks to texas speedway for the help
ECM to use
HERE IT IS THE MOST IMPORANT PART THE DAM PART NUMBER ----> ACDELCO ECM 12636659
ACDelco 24252114 Transmission Control Module can anybody confirm that will work for a 4L65E and can that TCM be reprogram
these ecm and tcm are from a trailblazer 2006

and so far I can not confirm what works with a 4L80E everybody just talks about what works but you never see anyone post part numbers. looking for a lost cost setup with new parts

First, thanks for the detailed parts list for the Dominator as I am still considering that.

The PCM and TCM are available on Amazon for about $300 together.
A Trailblazer SS came with a 4L70E trans and this TCM therefore controls any 4L60E/4L65E/4L70E with Input Speed Sensor (ISS); I suspect you can disable the ISS and then use any 300mm 4L60E.
There are various threads here that detail how to connect a 4L80E to a PCM that supports a 4L60E.
One of the GM Connect and Cruise packages comes with a 4L80E, but it uses a different (and very expensive) TCM.
