Default 4l60e randomly no 3Rd or 4th

Sooooo I got burned on a trade more less. Test drive went ok trans seemed fine.
Start on my way home and beat on it a little see what it will do. Converter seemed to not flash or lock up right and then 3rd and od started to slip. pulled over shut off checked fluild took off again and seemed to work ok again...

Trans was rebuilt about 2 weeks ago and it only cost $300 lol yeah yeah that did wave a red flag

Anyways car is a 98 formula, 224/224 114. 853 heads, victor jr intake, edelbrock rails, some kind of 4 barrel throttle body(still computer controlled) yank 3600,4.10 gears, spohn adj torque arm,adj panhard, subframe connectors, some kind of tubular trans mount, have some receipts from texas speed for cam install stuff i believe. sho me speed dyno tune and they put the intake on

Will a stock rebuilt trans with shift kit last very long or is it gonna need to be built pretty good

A "stock" rebuild will not last long. At a minimum, you will want a 4L65E rebuild kit which includes a 7 friction 3-4 clutch (and that is the only difference). Better yet would be a premium 7 or 8 friction 3-4 clutch using Borg Warner Hi-Energy or Raybestos GPZ frictions. Use a brand new .215 apply plate and one or two thicker .080 frictions of the same brand to bring the clearance down in the .030 to .045 range.
And the Transgo HD2 shift kit or the Sonnax Performance pack; at a minimum a .500 boost valve.

First and second seem strong. but 3-4 seem weak for sure. works ok at half throttle but not full for sure.

It being a 98 ls1, 4l60e. will the 03-06 4l60e bolt up to the same flexpalte or will i have to get a different one

All 4l60E from '98 to '06 with 300mm input shafts (V8 for LS engines) are mechanically and electrically interchangeable. So yes, you can use a newer 03-06 which will also be marginally stronger.

Cool. Cause I know where a 03 4l60e is, but he couldn't bolt it to his99 6.0 due to crank being longer or something along those lines

If you decide to go with a built transmission let me know and I can help you out.

I obviously don't have all the details here, but IMO if your scanner is showing higher throttle percentage than there really is, the PCM should be running higher line pressure than stock, which should have reduced the slippage, not increased it. Therefore I think your trans was just weak/worn to begin with and your throttle sensor problem did not damage it.

Got in it to go home, had all gears. Stopped at parts store then headed home still all gears. Roll up to a stop sign take off and no third or od...... Just random. Found a few burnt up o2 wires and a tps that looks to have gotten hott. Has a speed density tune on car also
