The Sonnax Pinless Accumulator Piston cannot be used in the 1-2 accumulator position with the TransGo spring setup unless you machine the piston. Most builders just install an aluminum piston with new pin when using the TransGo kit. Sonnax Pinless Accumulator Pistons can be used in the 3-4 and forward accumulators with the TransGo kit without any issues or alterations. Pro builder PBA may be able to help you with the springs that you need.

Attached is a copy of the TransGo 1-2 accumulator instructions. Most pro builders say to use no more than one spacer in the 1-2 accumulator position.

See this thread that you posted in.

I used whatever spring the TransGo kit said to use in the 3-4 accumulator and installed it by the TransGo instructions. Which TransGo kit are you using, they make a few different kits for the 4L60E depending on how the trans is to be used. The older 4L60 is a little different IIRC.

The stock 3-4 accumulator spring should be just fine. Install it into the case as in the Transgo Instructions. You want: case - spring - piston - separator plate.
If do don't have the stock spring, Google "4L60E 1-2, 3-4 Accumulator spring, white color". That site has a wide range of springs. The thicker coil springs tend to give firmer shifts.
The only spring that is hard to find is the stiff inner spring in the 1-2 accumulator.

ok , the transgo kit is a sk4l60e shift kit , 4th accumulator piston is wore out , center hole is egg shaped and had yellow spring in it which was broken, i have a new yellow spring and a pinless piston can they be used together in the 4th accumulator ? 1-2 acc stock piston looks ok but two of the three springs are broken and the setup was type 2 housing - spring - piston - plate , thats per sk t/g kit.. the t/g hd kit setup is housing - spacers - spring seat -blue spring - piston - orange spring ,, which is best to use ? i really appreciate the help ...

The TransGo sk4l60e shift kit is for a stock rebuild. If this is the kit you are using follow the instructions for that kit. I don’t see why you can’t use the pinless piston in the 1-2 accumulator following the sk4l60e shift kit instructions. Most people on here use the TransGo 4L60E-HD2-C kit, which will make the shifts much firmer. The 4L60E-HD2-C kit with the spring piston spring set up you can’t use a pinless piston. The spring on top will not allow the piston to move.

ok if i use a acc piston with a pin , which spring setup is best ? when this was rebuilt it had the it had the sk4l60 kit spring setup in it and had a neck breakin 2 gear shift . after awhile it lighten up .. and had broken the springs. its been said that the 4th acc can be blocked off is good or not ? ive seen were a spacer is put under the piston to limit its travel ...

Follow the instructions for the sk4l60e shift kit for whichever piston you use. This configuration is for this kit. If installing a 4L60E-HD2-C kit follow those instructions as they are configured for that kit, but do not use a pinless piston.
