Default Torque Converter lock up question

Just did a 4L80e swap with an edge 3700 stall and my tuner was asking me what gears i wanted the converter to lock up at WOT and i really didnt know the right answer. Its a N/A car no power adders. Just wanting your guy's opinion, on what gears the torque converter should be locked up in

Unless the converter is a triple disk ($1000+) I would strongly advise against ever locking at at WOT or you will quickly wear out the lockup clutch and clog up the trans with friction material.

I do have a 3600 stall triple disk and I tune it to lock up at 4200 RPM in 2nd and immediately in 3rd after the shift. Don't know if the 4200 in 2nd is the ideal RPM but it seems enough to give me enough shift extension after the 1-2 shift.
Due to gearing a slippage, you have to determine/calculate/estimate what MPH the desired RPM corresponds to since the lockup is tuned by MPH. Since I log most runs with my scanner I can quickly determine what MPH corresponds to any RPM.

Then Edge is comfortable with the strength of their lockup clutch at your power level.
Always good to the manufacturer.

4l60e w/yank ss3600 here. I have it so it does not lock in 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Only in 4th above 42 mph and unlocks in 4th if I remember correct, at 35-40% throttle position.

problem with no lock up in 3rd is that you wont get real dyno numbers as convertor would not lockup. Dyno operators always need a 1:1 ratio to close to it which is 3rd gear.

Don't need real dyno numbers...I have real track numbers
Street tune > Dyno tune

And a tuner if that person is good, can command lockup in third with hp tuner and bypass the TCC lockup schedule for dyno runs.

I agree street tune better than dyno tunes. I have been ok n dyno a few times but my car seems alot faster than dyno says. I have 78 caprice with small block 440 no lockup convertor cuz I only have th400. I found this thread because a buddy with 408 stroker knkh out 250 to the tires thru a 4l80e and his lockup did not work he did make 330 tq but now he's disappointed. I learned a few years ago dynos are disappointing. The dyno shop I was at is pretty sad. I was explaining simple engine mechanics and what the 02 sensor reads during a misfire. These guys have over 10 years experience but did not understand that a misfire will read as lean on the 02 sensor not rich because it is sensing air not fuel. So I have not found anyone who can tune a sniper efi so I have been learning learning myself over that last 3 years

Here is a link to a shot vid of my caprice popping off. Thanks for the info and replies I really appreciate it.
