Default What did I do???? 4L60E not shifting

I have a 4L60E in my 2wd S10 with a 5.3. When first assembled, had all gears operational. Now that I have the engine side sorted out (ground issue) the trans won't go into gear.

Running a 2001 LS1 converter, v8 bell housing, stock S10 trans. I recently changed out the neutral safety switch. Had a trans leak at the upper line, so I knew that the front pump is working.

When first built (still on the jack stands, 0 miles) I put it into drive and rear wheels moved. Now it just revs with nothing at the out put. Clicks into gear, but don't feel the trans actually engaging.

Running out of time to get the truck on the road (daily driver). So, what if anything did I do? Electrical or mechanical?

The indicator light sometimes flashes off on the gear selector.

Help!

Have you tried selecting all gear positions?

Yes, R, N, D, 3-2-1. Figured that if R & 1 Work then the issue would be mechanical. With nothing going on, wondering if there is a bad connection or wiring issue. Remember, that when first started I was able to put it into gear. I believe that the fluid is full, took 4 quarts to get it full. Would of needed to fill the converter all the way and cooler/lines. So the amount seems right. Can double check it tonight.

Definitely check fluid again. You can unplug transmission connector to rule out electrical, should have 3rd and reverse only.

Assuming the trans is full of fluid. It sounds like the link from the shift shaft rooster cone to the manual valve has come lose. The trans doesn’t need an electrical hook-up for reverse and 3rd gears to work. So if the pump is pumping then reverse and 3rd gears should work.

Something like this happened to me the last time I was at the track with my th350.
I did my burnout, staged, left on the last yellow and hit the rev limiter!

1st gear only! 1st in reverse and it would barely start.

The S hook that goes from the selector shaft to the valve fell off and was lying in the pan!
I've been punishing that trans for 16yrs. I thought I blew it up.
It's now in my sons Malibu.
More punishment!

Do you have pressure now? You could run a pressure test, could be broken pump gears.

I would take out the pressure port plug drivers side just forward and above linkage and start car for a moment should spray alot of trans fluid or as mentioned put a pressure gauge on it if available .

I just want to thank the pro's for offering up troubleshooting tips.
I realize that you don't have to help, but it's nice that you do.

On some other forums, there are some pro's that post all "their" stuff (not transmissions) and some members will ask or post with a problem and 90% of the time, members will answer the questions or at least try to help.
All the while you can see that the pro's are on the web page and offer no help.
Says a lot about them.
Ok , rant's over!
