Converter do I need a Rear End
Hey guys im debating on getting a 3200 RPM stall converter for my g/f's T-A and was wondering. Since she has the stock rear-end if i rev that thing to 3200 RPM's how in the hell am I going to get any traction. If i run slicks the rear is toast so what possible good will a stall converter do me if im running stock rear and street rubber. 3200 Rpm's on street rubber = one pissed off guy behind me who has his grill full of molten rubber. Just a quick question thats all. Do I need to upgrade my rear before using that high of stall, and do i need slicks to make any use out of the stall. Thanks

I ran slicks on my car and was cutting high 1.5 60ft times on the stock rear. there is always a chance that something will break when you stat modding your car.. I have a TCI 3800 stall forsale with a 2.6 stator if your interested, great street manors and kick *** at the track

Just drive it normal and dont stall it up to 3200rpm that way you can take off normal and let the converter flash to 3200 and hold on.I had a 4000 stall in my 01 SS with F1's and no problems with the stock rear with 3.23's until one day at the track after making some 50 some 1.5's 60 ft with drag tires it broke but that was after 100 + passess and lots of normal driving

So is it possible to take off normal in the car from a dig and then once you start going then stall it up to 3200 and fly like hell or is that a little hard on the tranny. Also how much would you sell that converter for I sent you a PM as well. I just don't have the money to worry about that rear all the time but from what I can tell if i stall it after im moving it doesn't hurt the rear nearly as much. Thanks guys and give me some hints on if the rolling stall can be done trouble free or not.

The rearend will hold. You can kill it from a dig or roll into it before dropping the hammer. Doesn't matter. Do whatever you have to do to get traction. Nittos are HIGHLY advised for best results (in fact, ET Streets would be likely be better.)

well i was told the same thing. "the rear will be fine" "dont worry" well i nailed from a dig ONCE and BOOM!! yes i only nailed from a dig once and the rear end blew up. i had never nailed it from a dig before and the first time i did. the whole thing blew up on me. i am running a vig3200 and nitto drag radials. ome people get away with tns of abuse and in my case some dont. i am goin bak to street tires. one good hook and the rear "could" be toasted

Those things happen. Heck, I've heard of stock rearends break in bone stock cars.....and I've known 'em to pull 1.3 60fts too....yes, 1.3s. But anyway, in most cases stock rearends do great for 1.6s and ok for 1.5s. Occasionally, results DO vary.
