Sup guys. I was trying to find out how would driving with 4000 stall and 4.10 gears be like while cruising at 45-50 mph ? What im concerned about is my engine reving too high while driving on the street. Need some opinion here b4 i make the move and buy it.
Thanks

www.richmondgear.com and use the drag or street gear calculator.

I assume you have a 4l60E w/ overdrive? If so you can just pop it in OD and you should be able to deal with it. It kinda depends on what you are willing to deal with. Some people dont mind cruising around at 2500 rpm or more, even 3k plus. Others hate it! Personally I dont think I would mind it. Ive only got a 3200 stall with 3.73s, which I know is a decent difference in what you are looking at but I could actually stand for a bigger stall in mine...say 4200 or something. I would say try to find someone on the board or someone local and talk to them and see what they say. It pretty much comes down to what are you willing to put up with on the street.

With those gears it should be plenty tight for the street. It should also lock up pretty quick.

Example......my converter with 2.73's.....won't lock up until 45-50 mph. With 3.73's it locks up around 30-35mph. I think you'll love it. BTW what STR are you looking at? I have a 2.7.

Yes it is a 4L60E with overdrive.
Well I dont mind crusing at 3000k.
And yes with 4.10s that I have in right now rpm goes up really fast...
I think 3k would be the max i could cruise at. I just dont want that motor to rev that high all the time.
And about STR ..I have no idea. Ill take any advice on that .. Im all ears!

Also...how many hp can this trans hold with no problems ?
I have deep trans pan for it..and supercooler, transmition mount, flex plate. Just some little upgrades to keep it runnin cooler and bit stronger. I also want to buy a shift kit..i was thinking about TransGo.

What verter would u guys recomend as far as the brand of it ? Viglante ? TCI ?
Thanks guys

With a lockup converter you won't see any higher rpm's at cruise. It will take a little more pedal to get moving but then the converter locks up and it's just like stock.

As far as the STR....I'd reccomend at least a 2.5. The higher the number, the tighter the converter is for the street and...the harder it will hit the tires on the launch.

As far as which brand....you will get all kinds of answers on here. Personally I like Yank (SS series) and Vig but I don't think there is really a bad converter sold here. If your goal is track times, take a look at the stock internal and cam only lists and see what those guys are running.

4400 stall w/4.10 gears, the only time I was cruising @ 3K is when i was constantly around 80 mph. It was about 2600 for 70 mph, I dont remember exactly what it was for lower speeds. It was locking up around 35-40mph in OD (4) under normal driving.

Thats not bad at all !
Also I am gettin a 12bolt rear end and i was thinkin if I should get the same gear ratio 4.10 as I have now or go bit higer to like..4.30s ? What do u guys say ? Reason why is because a big camshaft is goin in.. I mean...pretty damn big. ;D

BTW - CamaroCain - I got Lanes 3" duals too...awesome exhaust..I think its the best sounding exhasut outthere IMO...especially with LTs and no cats

Thanks !
