About how much would a shop charge for a TC install?

that sounds about right for going to a shop, but if you have a friend who works at a tranny shop, i got it done for 100 bucks.

Do it yourself. You can have in done in 3-4 hours. Once you pull one a couple of times like me you can have one in and out in about 2 hours.

If you do it yourself, let us know how difficult it was for a first timer

3-4 hours for the first time? Try 20! But, if I did it again now, I think it could be done in about 5 (also did this all on jackstands)

If you've got a lift it shouldn't be that hard, you could probably pull it off DIY style.

Just did it myself at a friends tranny shop yesterday, took me 45 minutes to get it out and 1 hour to put it in. That was with a hoist and a 6 ft tranny jack that would tilt the tranny to any angle that you want. I unbolted the exhaust and let it hang it out of the way.

I can do mine on jackstands in 2 hours. We did my buddies TA in like 2 1/4 hours about two months ago. It's not that bad the first time, it will take a little longer until you learn some tricks.
