Default Good 4L60E

Where can i find a 4L60E to withstand about 700hp? Who makes a trans brake for these creatures, if any?

While they may be out there, I don't know of anyone who regularly runs 700 rwhp through a 4L60e and has had it last. Rossler is well known. You can talk to FLP (sponsor ----> ) and there is one guy on here with a Rock-On that is in the 600+ rwhp range. IMO, If you are serious about that power level, there are more reliable options.

Better change it now. TH350 or 200R4 only way to go with THAT much power.

Cablebandit runs a Rock-On 4L60E and it finally died after 50+ passes at the track....he's right at 750 rwhp and 775 tq....the least it held was 701 when he installed it....when it failed this time it was a hard part failure and NOT a clutch failure....Rock-On has their crap together with their tranny's from what I've seen....CB is currently out of town but he'll be back this week...pm him about his set-up

That CB's lasted that 50 passes is impressive, but how long did he have it, 6 months, 1 year? That's not a huge amount of passes for someone who visits the track once or twice a month. My point is not to take anything away from Rock-On; it is that for a street used cruiser that may not be reliable enough and if it is mainly a track machine, why not go a built TH400 which is generally a very reliable solution. In my mind for a reliable set-up, much over the low 500s rwhp starts to get dicey for a 4L60e and with over 600 rwhp, it is time to move on.

I already have the TH400 with a trans brake installed but the problem is with the 4.10 gears. There is NO way to do 70mph and keep the engine doing low rpm's. That is why i need a good stout overdrive.

He installed it on Thanksgiving last year....what's not been said is that he also put 30,000 miles on the car driving to and from the track for those 50 passes....the idea was to get 100 passes at his power level before a rebuild...as everyone knows the clutches are the weak links in a 4L60....so the fact that this tranny has held 700+ hp for 30,000 miles and only broke because of a sprag or sun gear failure(I'm not sure which) is very promising for folks needing an OD tranny for a high power DD car....I couldn't believe it lasted as long as it did...and in a 3800+ lb car to boot.....

02' hawk, you have a PM

Default trans

Jerry (cablebandit) is a good friend of mine......rock on's transmission will hold the power. he broke a planetary in the tranny the clutches did hold. I tried this past week on my 4l60e which was built yeah and it lasted a day I guess it may be time to go to rock on......im pushing 617/624 on a mustang dyno but should be more than that by now.......but yeah mine lasted like 5 hours .....lol and say 7 WOT passes but they were glorious passes

the 200R4 and 700R4 keeps you your overdrive. Thats why I went that direction.

Does Rock-On have a website, or at least a phone number?

There's always the 4L80E for a true reliable high hp OD transmission

Rock on is not a sponsor but his number is at the end of the video in my sig. I just got my new one in yesterday. Last dyno was in the 740 range and torque is right at 800. I would not hesitate to recommend Rock ons tranny to anything at 700/700 or less. Most cars are not as heavy as mine (3900 street/3820 track) and most have more gear than my 3.23. Both of those things put a lot of load on the tranny parts.

Eric, I do wish you would have gone with a Rock On tranny to begin with....I understand though as you were saving a lot of money. It sux yours only lasted 5 passes though. Lesson learned I hope I'd take your tranny out and leave it for "Rita"

the 3/4 clutch pack and setup has been tested so that is a non issue with Daves trannys.
